The international market has opened the doors to Petrobras' low sulfur oil that comes from the pre-salt layer.

Everything indicates that Petrobras' new formula for oil with low sulfur content from the Pre-salt is being a great success in the international market, in a press conference the current president of the state-owned company informed that the product is being sold as a brand reference abroad.

The pandemic showed Petrobras the importance of entering the international market

White Castle says that the pandemic brought harm, but also demonstrated that it is extremely important for companies like Petrobras to enter the international market.

“I have good feelings, after all, the oil market out here is much bigger than in Brazil, here I can not only show the low sulfur oil that comes from the pre-salt layer, but we can also have more flexibility in the middle of the pandemic .

Exports of fuels with low sulfur content from Petrobras' Pre-salt had a great increase in the midst of the pandemic

Brazilian state-owned oil and gas company Petrobras has seen monthly fuel oil exports jump year on year. May's figure of 1,11 million tonnes of fuel oil beat February's figure (and previous record) by 10%. But compared to the same month of the previous year, the increase was 231%, according to the Mercopress news agency.

Petrobras has been focusing on pre-salt fuel exports as the global market shifts to a lower sulfur product. The company said the new global specification for sulfur in marine fuels was behind the increase.

“With demand for our products proving better than expected, we opted to gradually return average production to around 2,26 million barrels per day in April while increasing utilization rates at refineries,” Petrobras told Reuters.
