The oil company recently announced its interest in post-salt and pre-salt areas in the Campos Basin, emphasizing the geological and technical potential of the region, which allow for a still promising future in the national and international markets of the oil and gas sector.

When highlighting the important facts about the Campos Basin, Petrobras recalled that today the region contains approximately 280 producing wells and 25 offshore platforms in operation – which produce both in the post-salt and pre-salt layers. Currently, the region generates a volume of 800 barrels a day, which represents 30% of all oil produced in Brazil.

According to the state-owned company, the great revitalization plan for the Campos Basin drawn up by the company is already underway, which ranges from the intensification of exploratory campaigns in the pre-salt layer of that basin, in addition to the interconnection of more than 100 wells to the systems that already are in operation, new production projects in the coming years, extension of concession terms for world-class fields in our portfolio in that basin, among other efforts.

For the president of ACIM, Commercial and Industrial Association of Macaé, Francisco Navega, this positioning of the company represents a new breath for the local economy.

“This message signed by Petrobras allows us to believe that Macaé's economy will take a new path, thanks to the resumption of oil activities. This data reveals that there is still more time for offshore operations, with the development of new projects, which guarantees business opportunities for local companies and more jobs”, highlighted Navega

About the Campos Basin

The Campos Basin is the main sedimentary area already explored on the Brazilian coast. It extends from the vicinity of the city of Vitória (ES) to Arraial do Cabo, on the north coast of Rio de Janeiro, in an area of approximately 100 square kilometers.

In this gigantic open-air laboratory, Petorbras tested the main offshore technologies. Campos Basin started its commercial offshore production in Enchova.
