The Week Is Great for Ocyan, the Company Has Secured Another Charter Contract for a Drillship, This Time with PetroRio for the Frade and Wahoo Fields
After securing a charter contract for its drillship, Norbe IX, with Petrobras, Ocyan has achieved another milestone. The latest news is the hiring of the Norbe VI drillship by PetroRio. The vessel will be used in the development campaign of Wahoo and in the revitalization of Frade, which are located in the Campos Basin.

The contract with PetroRio will come into effect in March of next year and will allow for the drilling of three wells in Frade, consisting of two injectors and one producer, and in Wahoo there will be four producer wells.
The agreement for the Norbe VI will have an initial term of 500 days, with the possibility of an extension of an additional 350 days in increments of 70 days. The drillship, Norbe VI, operated by Ocyan, was built in 2010 and is a semi-submersible drilling platform with dynamic positioning and the capability to drill wells of up to 7,500 meters and operate in water depths of up to 2,400 meters.

PetroRio Acquires More Stake in Wahoo Field
In May, PetroRio informed the market that it signed a contract with Total E&P do Brasil to purchase 28.6% of the Wahoo field, in Block BMC-30. With the addition of the Wahoo stake acquired, PetroRio’s total participation in the field will be 64.3%.
According to the document, the company plans to generate a second production cluster by interlinking Wahoo to Grade, continuing the operational optimization plan of its assets. As reported by the company, the start of operations at Wahoo is expected for 2024.
Recent Contracts of Ocyan
Also this week, in addition to the charter contract for the Norbe VI, Ocyan also signed a contract with Petrobras for the charter of its drillship, Norbe IX.
The Petrobras agreement will last for three years from the start of the operation of the unit, which is scheduled to commence in 2022. Ocyan’s vessel is a drilling platform that can operate in water depths of up to 3,048 meters and drill wells of up to 12,195 meters.
In August 2020, the Norbe IX reached the milestone of 6 years without any accidents, and currently, the vessel is completing another contract with Petrobras that lasted about ten years.
