After Closing a 10-Year Contract with Petrobras, Ocyan Has Secured a New Charter Contract for Its Drillship, Norbe IX for Three Years
Working at full steam, Ocyan has secured a new charter contract for its drillship, Norbe IX, for Petrobras. The agreement will last for 1095 days, or three years, and will come into effect from the start of the unit’s operation, which is scheduled for the first quarter of next year. With the new charter contract for Petrobras, Ocyan’s entire fleet of its own drillships is under contract.

Ocyan Drillship Can Drill Up to 12,195 Meters
The drillship, Norbe IX, is a dynamically positioned drilling platform capable of operating in water depths of up to 3,048 meters and drilling wells up to 12,195 meters deep.
In August 2020, the drillship achieved a milestone of 6 years without any type of accident with personnel offshore. Currently, the vessel is concluding a contract also with Petrobras that lasted for ten years.

Ocyan Executive Speaks Out
Celebrating, Ocyan’s Vice President of Drilling Unit, Heitor Gioppo, states that the new achievement demonstrates the company’s operational excellence, which had a historic year with excellent performance and safety results despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
The executive states that the company has built a trajectory of maturity and efficiency in drilling operations in Brazil, as is the case with the drillship, Norbe IX, in the charter contract with Petrobras.
This is already the third charter contract secured by Ocyan just this year. In January, the company closed another agreement with Petrobras for 425 days that has been in effect since this July, in which case the contract was for the Norbe VIII drillship. A month later, Ocyan signed a contract for the maintenance of the vessels Mexilhão and Merluza.
