The Production Team of Itaguaí Construções Navais (ICN) Was Congratulated for the Progress on the S-43 Angostura Submarine
Internet users and professionals in the field congratulated ICN for its achievements in the PROSUB program. The program also aims for the construction of Brazil’s first nuclear-powered submarine (SN-BR), with the contract signing pending the completion of prior stages.
After a slow start due to learning and internalizing the construction standards adopted for the Scorpene class submarines at ICN, the program gained momentum. The SBR-4 S-43 ANGOSTURA is the fourth submarine to be built and its sections are already being assembled at NUCLEP.

About PROSUB
The Submarine Development Program (PROSUB) is a program under the Brazilian Navy aimed at producing four conventional submarines and manufacturing Brazil’s first nuclear-powered submarine.
Launched in 2008, PROSUB includes, in addition to submarines, the construction of an industrial infrastructure complex to support submarine operations, which encompasses the Shipyards, the Naval Base, and the Metal Structures Manufacturing Unit (UFEM) in the municipality of Itaguaí – RJ.
Finally, PROSUB will equip the Brazilian defense industry with cutting-edge nuclear technology. The realization of the program also strengthens sectors of the national industry that are strategically important for the country’s economic development. Prioritizing the acquisition of components manufactured in Brazil, PROSUB serves as a strong incentive to our industrial park.
