The Hyperion XP-1 Is A Hydrogen-Powered Electric Supercar That Reaches A Top Speed Of Over 350 Kilometers Per Hour And Goes From 0 To 100 In Just 2.2 Seconds
The California company Hyperion took more than two years to design and build the XP-1, a hydrogen-powered electric supercar. The company officially unveiled the first prototype of the electric sports vehicle at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The design of the XP-1 prototype hasn’t changed much since the project was presented by the manufacturer two years ago. As a result, it has unusual proportions, intricate air intakes, and components that protrude from the body, such as movable blades covered by solar panels.
The hydrogen electric supercar can go from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 2.2 seconds and has a top speed of 350 kilometers per hour, its performance is comparable to that of a super racing car.

Hyperion Motors took ten years to develop its super electric sports vehicle, but now we can confidently say that the wait was worth it. The vehicle’s chassis is made of titanium and carbon fiber, weighing only 1,031 kilograms, which is considered quite light.
Its fuel tanks are also made of carbon fiber, and when fully filled, the hydrogen electric supercar will have a range of over 1,635 kilometers. According to the manufacturer, refueling the Hyperion XP-1 will take just five minutes.
Because of its rounded contours, thin horizontal LED headlights, and large air intake in the front, supercar enthusiasts say that the design resembles the appearance of Bugatti models. Watch the video:
The Hydrogen Electric Supercar From Hyperion Comes Equipped With All-Wheel Drive And Has Active Aerodynamic Parts Made Of Solar Panels
These parts are useful both in the aerodynamic curve process and are articulated to follow the sun’s path. This process helps convert light into energy for the car’s electric motors, which do not rely solely on hydrogen.
The model’s doors open by sliding upward, and the cabin is made of glass. Passengers in the hydrogen electric supercar Hyperion XP-1 can choose their own lighting configuration inside the vehicle.
The exhausts are of the bicylinder type, but instead of smoke, only water vapor can be seen emerging from them. According to the manufacturer, one of the goals of launching the XP-1 was to encourage the development of a hydrogen energy infrastructure.
Inside, the contemporary design is completed with carbon fiber, titanium, and hand-stitched leather. The supercar’s dashboard is of very high performance, featuring gesture control technology and a 98-inch display.
Production of the hydrogen electric supercar from Hyperion, which was supposed to start in 2022, has been postponed to next year. According to the manufacturer, only 300 units of the vehicle will be produced. Despite the delay, Hyperion is accepting reservations through its online page, although prices have yet to be determined.
