Toyota Announces A New Million-Dollar Investment In Its Sorocaba Unit. Investment In The Manufacturing Unit In SP Will Create More Than 250 Direct Jobs In The Region.

Toyota will invest R$ 160 million to expand its manufacturing unit in Sorocaba, thus generating about 250 direct jobs, as well as indirect ones. The announcement took place last Friday (1), and Mayor Rodrigo Manga was at the industrial unit alongside the Secretary of Economic Development and Tourism (Sedetur), Paulo Henrique Marcelo, and State Deputy Caio França. The expansion of the plant is for the production of the Corolla Cross Hybrid Flex and Mirai.

Toyota Vehicle Production Will Occur In 2024

According to Manga, in addition to this important investment and consequent job creation, hydrogen combustion vehicles are the future for the whole world. The news is a source of great pride for the entire city, as this new car will be produced in Sorocaba for the entire planet.

The start of production of the hybrid-flex compact is scheduled for 2024, at Toyota’s Sorocaba unit. The model will have two engines, one electric and the other combustion, without the need for external charging, meaning it does not use outside energy; it self-generates its own energy during braking and deceleration.

Sorocaba Attracts New Investments Due To Its Deregulation Policy

According to the Sedetur Secretary, Sorocaba operates with a deregulation policy, which increasingly attracts investments to the city. Through this important investment from Toyota, hundreds of new jobs will be created, as well as an essential step in the field of sustainability. This is a source of great pride for all Sorocaba residents.

In April of this year, the Governor of the State of São Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas, had already announced Toyota do Brasil’s adherence to the ProVeículo Verde Program, which promotes projects for building more sustainable models, through the release of accumulated credit from the Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS).

Toyota Invests R$ 160 Million In Other Areas Of The Factory

In June, Toyota announced a new investment of R$ 160 million in Sorocaba (SP) for the construction of a Parts and Accessories Distribution Center.

The warehouse will cover 55,000 m² and aims to supply Brazilian dealerships and 20 more countries in the Americas and the Caribbean. The new complex aims to distribute more than 1.1 million parts every month to over 300 Toyota and Lexus dealerships in Brazil, as well as other markets.

According to the brand, the space will be focused on storing parts for all cars, but mainly for hybrid and hybrid-flex models.

The construction of the warehouse attached to the Sorocaba factory, which will create several jobs, is set to begin this June, with delivery expected in October 2024. The expectation is that the unit will be fully operational in 2025. Toyota has not yet disclosed how many jobs will be generated by the investment.

Brazil Receives Investments Of R$ 1.7 Billion

The Japanese company recently announced a significant investment in Brazil. There will be R$ 1.7 billion between 2023 and 2024 to manufacture its new hybrid vehicle in Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo. The initiative is expected to generate 700 jobs and strengthen Brazil’s regional integration with South America.

The meeting between the Vice President of Brazil and Minister of Development, Geraldo Alckmin, and the President of Toyota do Brasil, Rafael Chang, reinforces the importance of the partnership between the automaker and the Brazilian government. According to Alckmin, Toyota is one of the most traditional partners in the automotive sector, and the investment in new hybrid vehicle production is a sign of confidence in the national market.
