According to Petrobras, the terminals at Angra dos Reis (Tebig) and Suape (PE) also showed historic operational performance during the same period.
Petrobras emphasizes that, as of January 1, 2020, the new global specification for maritime fuels came into effect, reducing the sulfur content limit in fuel oil from 3.5% to 0.5%, benefiting the product offered by the state company.
In addition to the increased demand, the record was supported by greater integration between the programming areas of Transpetro and Petrobras and a focus on solutions aimed at operational efficiency.
Transpetro Logistics Terminals
At Transpetro, fuel oil is exported from the terminals in Santos (SP), São Sebastião (SP), Ilha D’Água (RJ), Madre de Deus (BA), Suape (PE), and occasionally, Angra dos Reis (RJ). Santos, Ilha D’Água, and Madre de Deus are logistical options for this operation due to their proximity to the main producers of this derivative in the country: the refineries in the Vale do Paraíba (Revap/SP), the Planalto Paulista (Replan/SP), Duque de Caxias (Reduc/RJ), and Landulpho Alves (Rlam/BA).
The terminals of Transpetro in São Sebastião and Suape are authorized to handle fuel oils through transshipment operations (the product moves from one ship to another without using the tanks of the units), which allows for the export using larger capacity vessels.
The Suape Maritime Terminal, by the way, also set a record in product handling in the same month, with fuel oil being one of the main products on the list. It reached 2.2 million cubic meters, surpassing the previous record of 2.1 million cubic meters.
In Angra, the teams from the Terminal carried out operations for 41 ships, the highest number achieved in its 43 years of operations, ensuring the delivery of oil exported by Petrobras to countries like China and India.
Transpetro is a Brazilian company engaged in the transportation and logistics of fuels, operating in the import and export of oil and derivatives, gas, and ethanol.
