The record for exports occurs in a challenging period for the world economy with a reduction in global demand for oil and derivatives caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and surpasses by 10% the previous best result, achieved in February of this year.
According to Petrobras, the Angra dos Reis (Tebig) and Suape (PE) terminals also showed historical operational performance in the same period.
Petrobras points out that, on 01/01/2020, the new global specification for marine fuels came into effect, which reduced the sulfur content limit in fuel oil from 3,5% to 0,5%, which benefits the product offered by the state-owned company.
In addition to the increase in demand, the greater integration between the programming areas of Transpetro and Petrobras and the commitment to solutions aimed at operational efficiency contributed to the record.
Transpetro logistics terminals
At Transpetro, ocex is exported from terminals in Santos (SP), São Sebastião (SP), Ilha D'Água (RJ), Madre de Deus (BA), Suape (PE) and, eventually, Angra dos Reis (RJ). Santos, Ilha D'Água and Madre de Deus are logistical options for this operation as they are close to the main producers of this derivative in the country: the refineries in Vale do Paraíba (Revap/SP), Planalto Paulista (Replan/SP), Duque de Caxias (Reduc/RJ) and Landulpho Alves (Rlam/BA).
The Transpetro terminals in São Sebastião and Suape are authorized to handle fuel oil through transshipment operations (the product passes from one ship to another, without using the units' tanks), which allow export using larger capacity ships.
The Suape Waterway Terminal, by the way, also presented a record in the movement of products in the same month, with ocex being one of the main ones in the list. It reached the mark of 2,2 million cubic meters, surpassing the previous one of 2,1 million cubic meters.
In Angra, teams from the Port carried out the operation of 41 ships, the highest number achieved in its 43 years of activities, guaranteeing the delivery of oil exported by Petrobras to countries such as China and India.
Transpetro is a Brazilian fuel transport and logistics company operating in the import and export of oil and derivatives, gas and ethanol.
