The Selection Process of Ambev Involves a Platform in the Metaverse, Where Internship Candidates Will Be Able to Interact Like in a Video Game
In 2022, part of the selection process for the beverage brand Ambev will take place in the metaverse. The process opened applications on March 22 for 300 opportunities in the internship program and for Representa, aimed entirely at black interns.
Ambev – which recently innovated by creating a 100% recycled bottle – claims that it decided to innovate recruitment through the metaverse when it developed a new platform, Ambev Expo, which will feature interactive games and dynamics. The aim of this initiative is to promote different interactions with candidates who reach the final stage of selection. The overall process has several phases: application, tests, and video production.
In a statement, the brewery said: “In the Ambev metaverse, candidates can create their own avatar (a representation of players’ images within a game or platform) with over 20 million customization possibilities, including different hairstyles, clothing, accessories, and skin tones”. Additionally, it will also be possible to communicate with NPCs (non-playable characters) who represent company employees and can assist in the final selection phase for internship positions or provide tips on how to perform well in an interview.

Camilla Tabet, the director of people and management at Ambev in Brazil, reiterates that the platform in the metaverse, created by PushStart, will enable internship applicants to connect with the company’s production chain through explanatory texts, interactions, and videos with workers from various sectors in digital versions, as the director states.
Regarding the selection processes for internship positions, Ambev has replaced logic tests and states that it will not choose candidates based on their college or course. In this sense, the only requirement is that participants are expected to graduate from college between December of this year and July 2024. Among the evaluations are behavioral skills, as Ambev intends to hire interns who can work collaboratively in groups, who are curious, and eager to seek innovations.

Additionally, as the metaverse is considered the new phase of the internet, it promises to replicate reality – and/or develop new ones – through digital devices and virtual reality. Thus, through this technology, candidates for Ambev’s internship positions or other professionals will have an immersive experience, walking and interacting with other people and content, similar to being inside a video game, unlike 2D websites. According to the platform Analytics Insight, in order to create this scenario, other professions are expected to arise, such as blockchain engineer or ecosystem developer.
