Ambev Brewery, In Search of Achieving New Sustainable Goal, Bets on Its First Completely Recycled Glass Bottle
Ambev is a Brazilian company specialized in the production of various beverages, better known for the beers it produces, as it controls 69% of the beer market. According to Laura Matos from the Money Times website, at the beginning of this year the brewery launched its first recycled bottle.
Considering extremely harmful activities to the planet, such as carbon emissions, excessive waste production and its improper disposal, excessive use of disposable materials, among others, many brands have been concerned with sustainability issues. Given that it is of utmost importance for the environment to have greater care, in the case of Ambev brewery, this concern was reflected in the production of its first 100% recycled glass bottle.

The first totally recycled glass bottle from Ambev Brewery was developed to be the packaging for the beer line “Brasil com S”, number 18, from Colorado. As the process was carried out with 100% recycled glass shards, it resulted in a significant reduction of half of the atmospheric emissions.

According to the VP of Sustainability and Supplies at Ambev, Rodrigo Figueiredo, the launch of the recycled bottle is an example that Ambev’s environmental commitment runs through the fundamental decisions of the group and its brands, in addition to representing how there is room for the development of new alternative and sustainable methods.
Ambev’s glass industry in Rio de Janeiro, AVR, is responsible for creating the innovative completely recycled glass packaging, which utilized new technologies to make it feasible to work with the highest percentage of recycled materials.
Ambev Aims to Achieve Sustainability
Another interesting point of contribution to a more sustainable planet is that Ambev Brewery aims, by 2025, to ensure that its packaging is fully returnable or made, in the majority, from recycled raw material. The creation of this recycled bottle has already been a step forward in reaching this important goal.
Finally, Ambev Brewery announced another action contributing to its goal: an investment of R$ 870 million in a new sustainable glass factory being built in Paraná. The unit is expected to begin operation in three years, in 2025.
World’s First Beer with Vitamin D Launched by Corona, Ambev’s Beer Brand
Corona, the beer brand owned by Ambev, prides itself on always conducting its advertising campaigns based on a relationship with the sun and summer. Now, the brand has announced another launch that bridges this relationship – a never-before-made product that includes the addition of a novel ingredient in the beer world: vitamin D.
The launch, which in addition to containing vitamin D, is also non-alcoholic, has been named Corona Sunbrew. The new beer was developed by the AB InBev innovation team to provide 30% of the daily recommended dose of vitamin D by Health Canada experts.
