Volkswagen Announces Plans To Launch A New Version Of The Electric Kombi For The North American Market. The Updated VW Kombi Will Have A Few Extra Centimeters.
A Volkswagen ID.Buzz, the electric Kombi from the German automaker, was launched just over a year ago, but not in North America. However, the German automaker announced that the “stretched” version of the electric vehicle will arrive at the showrooms in this part of the Americas on June 2. In fact, the automaker is eager to ensure that no one forgets this day, as June 2 will become the “International Volkswagen Bus Day”, which will be celebrated every year with classic and electric gatherings of the brand’s large vehicles.
New Version Of The VW Kombi Will Feature The Same Design, But With Extra Centimeters
According to VW Group’s communications director in America, Cameron Batten, it doesn’t matter whether the model is called a Bus, Kombi, or Bulli, the legacy that the Type 2s left in modern culture is unique. As the company continues to introduce the 21st-century electric successor to the T2, the ID.Buzz, it is excited to create this annual celebration day for Volkswagen Bus enthusiasts and fans everywhere.
There is not much mystery about what the Volkswagen Electric Kombi in North America will be like. With the smaller model, featuring two rows of seats, launched in Europe in March of last year, it will have the same flat face with slim headlights and trim features.

So far, prototypes of the VW Kombi have shown only one color on their exterior. However, two-tone finishes are certainly part of the electric car’s charm and will remain in this larger version of the model.
New Version Of The Kombi May Have 30 cm More
It has not yet been confirmed by the company how much larger the new version will be. There are reports that it will be nearly 30 extra centimeters, which doesn’t seem like much on paper. However, it makes a significant difference for a vehicle. In this case, it is a big enough difference to add an extra seat in the back of the vehicle. It has also not been stated whether the extra length will accommodate a larger battery.
Currently, the Volkswagen electric Kombi has an 82 kWh battery, which powers an electric motor generating 201 horsepower. It is estimated that a dual-motor version with more power for North America may have a larger battery of 111 kWh, capable of generating 300 horsepower. These questions are expected to be answered in just a few weeks. However, North American buyers will still have to wait until 2024 to drive an electric Kombi.
Volkswagen Is Investing In The Electric Segment
In April, the automaker unveiled its luxury electric sedan ID.7 to the world, the first global electric car from Volkswagen for the luxury sedan sector with a planned launch in North America. For now, Latin America will have to wait a little longer to receive Volkswagen’s new vehicle.
According to information released by the automaker itself, the Volkswagen ID.7 electric sedan will be about 5 meters long, have a range of 700 km, and feature extensive interior space, which stands out mainly for its operating system focused on passengers and drivers.
According to Volkswagen Passenger Cars CEO Thomas Schäfer, the creation and launch of the new electric car means taking the next step in the brand’s electric offensive. The executive also emphasized that the automaker plans to offer greater breadth in the electric ranges to all manufacturers in Europe by 2026, including the more basic models up to models like the Volkswagen ID.7 electric sedan.
