Seven Brazilian Institutions Rank Among More Than 2,500 Hospitals Evaluated in 32 Countries, According to Survey Released on June 25, 2025

An international assessment of great impact in the health sector was released on June 25, 2025, by Newsweek, in partnership with the data company Statista.
The World’s Best Hospitals 2026 ranking analyzed more than 2,500 hospitals in 32 countries and, in this context, highlighted seven Brazilian hospitals among the best in the world.
This survey reinforces Brazil’s presence on a global list based on technical criteria, standardized metrics, and expert evaluations.

Brazilian Hospitals Highlighted in Global Ranking

Among the best-positioned Brazilian hospitals is the Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital, which achieved 16th place worldwide.
In addition, the Syrian-Lebanese Hospital appeared in 79th place, followed by the Oswaldo Cruz German Hospital in 105th position.
The Moinhos de Vento Hospital was also included, ranking 111th, and the Heart Hospital (HCor) in 146th place.
Furthermore, the Santa Catarina Paulista Hospital occupied 151st position, and finally, the USP Clinical Hospital ranked 189th.
Thus, Brazil consolidated its significant presence in the international hospital landscape, according to the technical criteria defined by the publication.

Technical Methodology Defines Rankings

According to Newsweek, each hospital received a score based on four central and complementary criteria.
First, recommendations from experts in the health field, including doctors and hospital managers, were considered.
Additionally, objective indicators of hospital quality made up a significant part of the assessment.
Subsequently, existing data on patient experience were incorporated into the final calculation.
Finally, Statista’s survey on Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) was applied to measure well-being and quality of life after treatments.

In the 2026 edition, as officially reported by Newsweek, the methodology began to assign greater weight to hospital quality indicators.
In addition, new data related to accreditation, safety, and patient experience were included in the analysis.
In this context, for the first time, the ranking included information from the Philippines and Turkey, expanding the international reach of the survey.

International Scenario and Global Comparison

In the global scenario, the leadership was held by the Mayo Clinic in the United States.
Next, the Toronto General – University Health Network in Canada ranked second.
Following that, the Cleveland Clinic, also from the United States, came in third.
Additionally, the Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset from Sweden appeared in fourth.
Finally, the Massachusetts General Hospital, also from the United States, rounded out the top five.

Thus, the ranking highlights international standards of hospital quality while simultaneously positioning Brazilian institutions in a global comparison structured by technical criteria.

Technical Evaluation and Transparency in the Health Sector

The survey was structured based on standardized data and predefined criteria, reinforcing the transparency of the process.
Furthermore, by prioritizing measurable indicators and direct patient responses, the methodology aimed to enhance the accuracy of the analysis.
Thus, the 2026 edition consolidates an international evaluation that combines medical reputation, care quality, and patient perception.

What factors do you consider most decisive in defining a hospital among the best in the world: medical reputation, technical quality, or patient experience?
