The Accident Happened at the Coruripe Plant Early This Morning in the State of Alagoas. The Coruripe Plant Released an Official Statement About the Incident!

Workers at the Coruripe Plant were injured yesterday (16) during a boiler accident that occurred in the alcohol and sugar sector of the facility, which is located in the city of Coruripe, in the state of Alagoas.

Preliminary information from eyewitnesses at the time of the accident indicates that a Production Box fell, hitting steam pipes from the boiler and causing burns to the employees who were carrying out their activities. Two people involved in the accident had minor injuries, at the end of the article is the official statement from the Coruripe Plant about the incident.

Several WhatsApp audio messages were posted in which workers from the plant were describing the situation of the accident: “One worker got badly burned, and when he tried to run out of the place, he ended up colliding with a column and suffered a severe head injury.”

CLARIFICATION NOTE – September 17, 2020

The company states that there was no boiler explosion. It asserts that, yesterday, around 7 PM, the support of the structure for two evaporation boxes broke, but the plant continued to operate normally. Two people passing by the site had minor injuries, were immediately attended to, and are doing well.
