Aço Verde do Brasil Is Bringing Jobs, Income, Technologies, and Development to Maranhão After Announcing the Application of R$ 1.7 Billion in Investments in the Municipality of Açailândia for the Next 10 Years

Aço Verde do Brasil (AVB) informed the Government of Maranhão that it will privately invest approximately R$ 1.7 billion over the next 10 years in the city of Açailândia, in the Tocantina Region, for the installation of a Metal Mechanical Hub. The company’s estimate is that more than 2,000 direct jobs and 6,000 indirect jobs will be generated with the investments in the municipality of Maranhão.

The company is already operating in the municipalities of Açailândia, Barra do Corda, Grajaú, Urbano Santos, Chapadinha, among others in Maranhão. Aço Verde do Brasil is the first producer in the world of carbon-neutral steel and embraces sustainability as its main manufacturing philosophy.

According to Silvia Nascimento, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Aço Verde do Brasil, the company believes in Maranhão and will invest R$ 1.7 billion over the next 10 years by developing a Metal Mechanical Hub in Açailândia, generating around 2,000 direct jobs and 6,000 indirect jobs, offering the municipality of Maranhão development, new job opportunities, and cutting-edge technology.

Aço Verde do Brasil’s investments in the Metal Mechanical Hub will consist of the installation of an industrial “condominium” with 40 lots ranging from 19,000 to 37,000 m² where various companies involved in the project will be able to operate with activities aimed at steel production in Maranhão.

Companies Will Settle in Maranhão This Year

Throughout this year, two companies are set to settle in Aço Verde do Brasil’s Metal Mechanical Hub, generating jobs and starting their industrial activities, such as wire production for the agricultural sector and also wire for the nail line, according to Maranhão’s management.

The Metal Mechanical Hub of the company in Açailândia Will Have the Following Steel Processing Activities:

  • Precast Reinforced Concrete Line;
  • Grills, Trusses, Annealed Wire;
  • Construction Industry Line;
  • Industrial Line;
  • Agricultural Line: Oval Wire for Fencing, Mattress Springs, Wire for Cellulose Baling;
  • Welding Wire, Galvanized Wire, Nails, and Barbed Wire;
  • Metal Fasteners Line.
