The crisis in Argentina would be the main reason for transferring the manufacture of diesel engines by the MWM company from Argentina to Brazil

MWM, recognized for the manufacture of its diesel engines, will close its factory in Córdoba, in Argentina and transfer all production to Brazil, more precisely to the Jurubatuba region, south of São Paulo, the company said last week.
The reason for the company's decision is the strong economic crisis that Argentina is going through and which has had devastating consequences in the automotive segment. See also, Klabin buys Heineken factory!

Argentina has been experiencing a drop in vehicle sales and consequently the closure of many jobs, and MWM's decision will affect one of the three units operating in the country, causing the dismissal of 100 employees.

Company

MWM arrived in Brazil in 1953, controlled by the German Motoren Werke Mannheim, founded in 1922 and in 1985, the then MWM Motores Diesel Ltda was acquired by Deutz AG, which sold its control to Navistar International in 2005.
In the country, MWM produced diesel engines for Ford, GM and Mercedes-Benz, but in 2001 the crisis made the company paralyze production and start manufacturing parts to supply the lines that were in Brazil.

With the transfer of share control to Navistar International, in 2013, the company started producing generators and electric motors.
The diesel engine and components manufacturer's plan is to expand the activities of the São Paulo factory to now centralize its production in the country.

MWM also had a manufacturing plant in Canoas, in Rio Grande do Sul, which made the engine for the Chevrolet S10, but it was closed in 2015.
The company stated that the commercial unfeasibility of its operations in Argentina was the main reason for moving its activities to Brazil.
