Enauta Announces Plans to Resume Production at the Atlanta Field in the Santos Basin in October After a Pause Due to Failures in Submarine Equipment. The Company Also Invested in Upgraded Equipment to Address Technical Challenges.
Enauta plans to resume production at the Atlanta field, located in the Santos Basin, in October, after a temporary interruption due to failures in the electrical components of the submarine pumping equipment. Originally scheduled to restart at the beginning of this month, the resumption of production has been postponed to make necessary adjustments. The company also invested in proven-effective equipment, similar to those used in the Gulf of Mexico and Brazil, to overcome technical challenges.
Enauta Invests in Equipment and Prepares to Resume Production in Atlanta
Enauta, a company operating in the oil and gas sector, announced its plans for the resumption of production at the Atlanta field, located in the Santos Basin, in an area known as post-salt.
The expected date for this resumption is next month in October, according to information released by the company in a statement last Wednesday (06/09).

An Italian company has created an underwater drone that lives on the ocean floor for 12 consecutive months without returning to the surface, and the embedded artificial intelligence allows it to inspect and repair oil pipelines on its own.
The company’s initial expectation was to restart operations in the field as early as the beginning of this month.
However, production had to be temporarily halted in July due to critical failures identified in the electrical components of the submarine pumping equipment.
These failures were identified during a planned shutdown for maintenance of the FPSO Petrojarl I, which occurred in May.
To overcome the technical challenges faced, Enauta chose to invest in the installation of equipment similar to those that have demonstrated a history of proven superior performance, both in the Gulf of Mexico and in Brazil.
The Atlanta field operates through an Early Production System, a strategic approach that aims to collect data and confirm the potential of the reservoir for the development of the definitive production system through the FPSO Atlanta.
First Oil Extraction in the Resumption of Atlanta Expected to Occur as Early as 2024
According to data released by the company, the first oil extraction from the new platform is expected to occur in mid-2024.
For this month, the company plans to complete the last producer well of the set of six wells planned in Phase I of the Atlanta project and initiate the anchoring of the FPSO Atlanta, crucial milestones for achieving Enauta’s objectives in this promising region of the Santos Basin.
The resumption of production in the Atlanta field by Enauta represents a significant step in the exploration of resources in the Santos Basin.
With strategic investments in equipment and a firm commitment to resolving technical challenges, the company is ready to contribute to the continuous development of the oil and gas sector, boosting the economy and energy production in Brazil.
About the Atlanta Field
The Atlanta Field, located in Block BS-4 in the Santos Basin, represents a remarkable achievement for Enauta, which became the first independent Brazilian company to operate in the exclusion zone of the pre-salt in the ultra-deep region.
With a 100% stake, this project required overcoming technical challenges, applying advanced offshore engineering concepts, and significant investment of US$ 157.5 million after the IPO in 2011.
Thus, the Atlanta Field represents not only a milestone in Enauta’s trajectory but also an example of operational efficiency and financial resilience in the exploration of resources in Brazil’s deep waters.
