Know the difference between T-HEUT and HEUT (Submerged Aircraft Escape Training) and which one is better for your specialization
The T-HUET, required by oil operators such as Total and Shell, which must present approval from OPITO (Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization), proving that it has content that meets its standards. There are institutions that market the course without this endorsement. Regarding the difference between HUET and T-HUET, perhaps it was not clear during the theoretical and practical instruction because it was too subtle. Furthermore, throughout this matter we will be as succinct as possible for your understanding.

HUET – The traditional Helicopter Underwater Escape Training course
Going straight to the point, it can be said that the HUET course – Helicopter Underwater Escape Training – is also known, in Brazil, as Submerged Aircraft Escape Training, mainly for those who work in the Offshore industry. It deals with basic training in safety procedures for helicopter escape in the event of an accident when flying over water.
To date, HUET is not standardized training by any official body in Brazil and is not mandatory for work on Petrobras offshore platforms. That is, it ends up not being required by some offshore companies that operate in the country.
T-HUET – a version of the HUET that prepares the crew for all scenarios in case of a landing over tropical waters
T-HEUT and HEUT Underwater Helicopter Escape Training provides you with the resources and skills needed to stay safe and escape a helicopter that has landed in the water.
As frightening as the idea of a helicopter crashing into water can be, the skills needed to keep you safe in such an event can be learned in the space of just one day. And the course that prepares you for the offshore industry is open to anyone who is interested, without the need for complex qualifications before enrolling.
The course combines practical exercises with theory learning about various escape techniques, safe deployment of equipment. Along with that are various emergency procedures and when to use them.
When you're in the dark, you'll make escapes in different rotation positions and in different submersion levels. In addition to practicing escape in the dark. You'll also practice a series of more complex escapes, such as escaping a helicopter that has had multiple exit points blocked.
Finally, the certificate is valid for four years. After this period, you will need to train again. You do not need any qualifications or specific training to enroll in a HUET or T-HUET course. The course can be taught in a full day, but it's all worth it in the offshore industry.
