Equinor harbor in Norway oil spill accident

At the time of the incident, the TS Sola tanker had 625.000 barrels of crude oil on board and 7 people were injured at the Sture terminal in Øygarden – Norway

Equinor reported the incident at approximately 04:15 local time on Thursday. Equinor said that Sture personnel will be evacuated as a security measure. The company added that it is in dialogue with the Norwegian authorities and has mobilized emergency resources to help the police and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre.

The Sture terminal in Øygarden Township in Hordaland receives oil from the Oseberg area via the 115 kilometer Oseberg pipeline system from the Oseberg field center, and crude oil from the Grane field via the 212 kilometer Grane pipeline (GOP). The Svalin field was connected via the Grane pipeline in 2014. Crude oil from the Edvard Grieg field has been transported to Sture via the GOP since late 2015.

According to a Reuters report, seven people were injured in the collision between the frigate Helge Ingstad and the oil tanker TS Sola. The frigate was taking on water and evacuating its crew of 137 and there were no reports of damage to the tanker, Reuters added.

Norway's Aftenblad reported on Thursday morning that the frigate has a large hole in its hull and is leaking fuel into the sea. At the time of the incident, the tanker had 625.000 barrels of crude oil on board, but there were no reports of a risk of leakage.
