After two annual periods of rising car prices, the trend stabilized and increases slowed significantly. However, this resulted in starting prices for new cars in Brazil in 2024 ranging from R$72,6 to R$93,9, indicating financial challenges for most Brazilian consumers when purchasing brand new vehicles.

As is usually the case, hatchbacks predominate among the 10 most affordable cars in the country in 2024, with the exception of the Fiat Cronos, which stands out as the most economical sedan. The prices of these most popular models, such as the Chevrolet Onix, Fiat Argo, Hyundai HB20 and Volkswagen Polo, tend to be between R$80 and R$90, and are also the most sought after on the market.

When compiling this list, we focused exclusively on the most economical version of each model to ensure a fair comparison and avoid duplication. Typically, we would exclude powertrain variations or models that have ceased production and whose remaining stocks are being liquidated; however, these exceptions did not apply this year. We generally base ourselves on list prices available from manufacturers' configurators.
