In Addition to Wind Energy, All Other Renewable Energy Sources in Brazil Also Reported Significant Increases in the Energy Matrix
Brazil’s wind power production in May increased by 6.4% compared to the previous year, reaching 5,304 average megawatts (MWa), according to preliminary data released by the Electric Energy Trading Chamber (CCEE). The share of wind energy rose to 8.2% from 8.0% in the same month last year, according to CCEE data published in the InfoMercado Semanal, the weekly energy generation and consumption bulletin.
All other three main sources of renewable energy in Brazil achieved year-on-year growth in May. Solar energy generation increased to 488 MWa from 310 MWa, hydropower grew to 49,706 MWa from 45,153 MWa, and the country’s biomass plants produced 4,062 MWa, up from 3,892 MWa.

Major Electric Sector Company Announces the Construction of Four Wind Farms in the State of Rio Grande do Norte
CPFL announced that the state of Rio Grande do Norte will receive the construction of four new wind farms in the municipality of Touros, on the northern coast.
The planned investments are on the order of R$ 350 million and are expected to be built by the end of this year or, at the latest, early 2020. Learn more here.
