Compact SUV Enters The Japanese Market With Sport Package RS, Exclusive Interior With Red Details, Lowered Suspension, And Prices Ranging From R$ 131,600 To R$ 139,100, While Brazil Awaits Hybrid System To Compete With The Toyota Yaris Cross
The Honda HR-V RS Hybrid, launched in Japan under the name Vezel, promises to breathe new life into the compact SUV segment. The new model combines a sporty look, exclusive interior, and adjustments in drivability, without compromising the self-recharging hybrid e:HEV system, which delivers 129 hp and 25.8 kgfm of torque.
According to information published by the website Autos Segredos and echoed by the portal Autoo, the arrival of this version may serve as a preview for the future national hybrid HR-V, expected between 2027 and 2028. This move is strategic, as the model will have the mission of facing direct competitors like the Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid, which is expected to be officially unveiled at the São Paulo Motor Show, scheduled between November 22 and 30.

Distinctive Design And Exclusive Equipment
The HR-V RS focuses on visual elements that enhance sportiness. The front features a exclusive grille with RS emblem, redesigned bumpers with dark chrome details, and robust side skirts. The 18-inch diamond-cut wheels complete the setup, adding sophistication to the compact SUV.

Fiat launches the new 2027 Toro hybrid with 48V, 176 hp, an electric motor of 15.5 hp, a 0.85 kWh battery, up to 7% fuel savings, 8% fewer emissions, and possible exemption from IPVA.
The body can be purchased in five color options, including the striking Premium Crystal Red Metallic. However, Honda does not offer the two-tone paint for this version.
Inside, the model received a finish designed for the audience seeking exclusivity. The leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear selector, the black ceiling, and red stitching reinforce the sporty feel. The seats are covered in non-slip Lux Suede, providing more comfort for everyday use.
The equipment list is generous: full-LED headlights, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, dual zone air conditioning, wireless charger, as well as trunk with hands-free electric opening. The safety package includes the renowned Honda Sensing, which offers various driving assistants. Among the options are the multiview camera and the premium sound system with 10 speakers.
Lowered Suspension And Hybrid System e:HEV
The changes in the RS version did not stop at design. Honda worked on the lowered suspension and the recalibration of the electric steering, resulting in quicker responses and a greater sense of control.
Interestingly, the new height of 1,545 mm (compared to 1,580 mm of the conventional version) also brought a practical advantage: the SUV can now access Japanese automatic garages, which have a strict height limit.
Despite the improvements in drivability, the mechanical set remains unchanged. The e:HEV system combines the 1.5 gasoline engine with two electric motors: one acting as a generator and the other responsible for traction. The combined power is 129 hp, with options for front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD).

Prices In Japan And Impact On The Brazilian Market
In the Japanese market, the Honda HR-V RS Hybrid (Vezel RS) will arrive at dealerships in October 2025. The FWD version starts at ¥3,748,800, equivalent to R$ 131,600, while the AWD version is offered for ¥3,968,800, about R$ 139,100. The extra cost compared to the e:HEV Z configuration is ¥480,700, approximately R$ 17,000.
This strategy reinforces Honda’s positioning in the hybrid SUV segment, targeting customers who want sportiness without giving up efficiency. Furthermore, the potential arrival of the e:HEV system in Brazil by 2028 aligns with the requirements of the MOVER (Green Mobility and Innovation) program, which encourages electrification and reduction of carbon emissions in the country.
Experts point out that Honda cannot lose ground against Toyota’s offensive, which is betting on the Yaris Cross Hybrid as the electrified entry model in the national market. The contest promises to be one of the most important of the next decade among electrified compact SUVs.
