New Generation Of The Honda CB 500 Hornet Surprises By Combining Tradition, Cutting-Edge Technology And Updated Design, Marking The Return Of One Of The Most Emblematic Names In Brazilian Motorcycling.

Honda surprised the Brazilian market of motorcycles by officially announcing the return of the CB 500 Hornet, a name that carries tradition and appeal among enthusiasts.

The new generation of the CB 500 Hornet arrives after more than eleven years since the last version sold in the country, bringing technological innovations and updates that meet the demands of today’s audience.

The model was presented to the public at the Interlagos Festival, held in São Paulo from May 29 to June 1, 2025, marking a new phase for the manufacturer in the medium displacement segment.

With a 471cc twin-cylinder engine, liquid cooling, and a power of 49.6 horsepower, the new CB 500 Hornet promises consistent performance and efficiency for different usage profiles.

The six-speed manual transmission, combined with 4.5 kgfm of torque, ensures agility and smoothness in urban driving and on longer trips.

The efficient fuel consumption is another point highlighted by experts, considering the balance between power and economy offered by the engine.

In design, the CB 500 Hornet maintains the striking essence of the classic Hornet line, with straight lines and a robust appearance, but incorporates more modern features and refined finishes.

Among the innovations, the 5-inch TFT digital display stands out, showing information in high definition and allowing complete integration with smartphones.

This connectivity includes notifications, music playback control, and GPS navigation, features that are unprecedented in the market segment where the Hornet operates.

The presence of the TFT display is one of the central points of innovation.

According to Honda, the system allows the rider to view essential information clearly, even under strong light exposure.

The connectivity with mobile devices occurs through the exclusive Honda RoadSync application, compatible with the main operating systems in the market.

The user can, for example, answer calls and receive messages without handling the phone, increasing safety while riding.

In addition, the display includes automatic brightness adjustments and customizable functions, catering to different driver profiles.

The integrated navigation system, through voice command, expands the use possibilities for those who use the motorcycle for travels or daily commuting.

According to Honda representatives, “the new Hornet was developed to deliver the maximum in connectivity and practicality, following global trends in the segment”.

Another technological differential is the fully LED lighting system, from the main headlight to the position lights and rear light, ensuring greater durability and visibility, especially in urban environments and highways.

The return of the CB 500 Hornet is seen as a relevant strategy by Honda to strengthen its position in one of the most competitive segments in the country.

During the time it was off the shelves, the absence of the Hornet was often mentioned by consumers and experts, as the CB 600F Hornet was a benchmark in performance and robustness until the end of its production.

Now, the 500 version brings back part of that legacy, but adapted to the new profile of the Brazilian audience.

The launch of the new Hornet comes at a time of market warming for motorcycles, driven by the search for mobility, economy, and flexibility.

According to data from the Brazilian Association of Manufacturers of Motorcycles, Mopeds, Scooters, Bicycles and Similar (Abraciclo), sales of medium displacement motorcycles grew by 8.3% in 2024 compared to the previous year.

The interest in models that combine performance, connectivity, and modern design was decisive for this advancement.

Available in red, black, and white, the CB 500 Hornet arrives at dealerships with the expectation of pleasing both old fans of the line and new consumers.

The model was one of the main attractions at Honda’s booth during the Interlagos Festival, where the public could closely check and test the novelty, in addition to watching other presentations and competitions.

NX 500: Evolution In The Honda Launch Line

Simultaneously with the debut of the new Hornet, Honda introduced the NX 500, a direct evolution of the CB 500X, aimed at the audience seeking a mixed-use experience between urban use and off-road adventures.

The NX 500 utilizes the same mechanical set as the Hornet, with a 471cc twin-cylinder engine, but brings important differences in design and proposal.

Inspired by off-road bikes from the 1990s, the NX 500 bets on cleaner lines, straight angles, and lightweight alloy wheels, which are 1 kg lighter than the previous model.

This provides better performance on rough terrain and contributes to drivability on asphalt.

Like the Hornet, the NX 500 features a 5-inch TFT display, complete connectivity, and full LED lighting.

The launch in three color options follows the same timeline as the CB 500 Hornet, with a suggested price of R$ 45,800, as officially announced by Honda.

The arrival of these two models reinforces the manufacturer’s strategy to update its range of medium displacement motorcycles, making the portfolio more attractive to different consumer profiles and expanding its market share in the segment.

The commitment to innovation and technology is evidenced by the embedded digital solutions, while the design seeks to balance classic references and new trends.

Perspectives For The CB 500 Hornet In Brazil

With the introduction of the CB 500 Hornet and the NX 500, Honda demonstrates its intention to regain the lead among medium displacement motorcycles, betting on technology, design, and connectivity.

The investment in advanced digital displays, smartphone integration, and efficient engines aligns the launches with the expectations of the increasingly demanding Brazilian audience regarding the user experience and the features embedded.

The return of the Hornet and the arrival of the NX 500 also stimulate competition and may influence the offering of innovations in other models in the market.

For many motorcycle enthusiasts, the return of the name Hornet symbolizes the rescue of a story of success and internationally recognized performance.

Honda believes that the launch of these models will expand its customer base and consolidate the brand’s presence in different niches.

Will the new CB 500 Hornet be able to repeat the success of previous generations and win over a new legion of fans in the national scene?
