Renewal of the environmental license for the construction of the Angra 3 nuclear power plant guarantees another 6 years for the development of the nuclear energy project in Brazil
Brazil is now witnessing a new chapter in the future of the nuclear energy sector, one of the most promising in the national territory, since Ibama granted the renewal of the environmental license for the continuity of the installation project of the Angra 3 nuclear power plant, which will be on Praia de Itaorna, in the municipality of Angra dos Reis, in Rio de Janeiro.

If the predictions of the Federal Government and Ibama are correct, this will be the last environmental license delivered during the work plan for the Angra 3 nuclear power plant, since it is expected to be completed during the year 2028.
When fully operational after completion of the work plan in the coming years, the nuclear energy production plant will have a capacity of 1.405 megawatts and will be able to generate more than 12 million megawatt hours per year.
For comparison purposes, this number may be responsible for the complete supply of the cities of Belo Horizonte and Brasília during a total period of 12 months without interruption.
In addition, Angra 3 will be another important structure for the expansion of the share of nuclear energy in the energy matrix of the state of Rio de Janeiro, boosting the percentage to 60% of its total operation.
Ibama then seeks to contribute to the benefits of the nuclear power plant by delivering the new environmental license for the project.
