New Conversion Kit Turns Any Motorcycle Model Into An Electric Motorcycle. Equipment Costs Less Than R$ 6 Thousand And Delivers A Top Speed Of 96 Km/h.

Due to high prices, buying an electric motorcycle is not always the best option for the transition to two-wheeled electric vehicles. Just like bicycles, there are conversion kits that allow you to transform a regular motorcycle into an electric one at a much lower cost.

Conversion Kit To Turn Your Motorcycle Into Electric Costs Less Than U$ 1,100

The youtuber from the Pat Outdoors channel detailed how the process works in the case of a 2006 Yamaha YZ250, for comparison, the 2023 model is currently sold in Brazil for around R$ 65 thousand.

The conversion kit used was the 72V E&C QS138 V3, sold by the company Electro & Co, which transforms several models into electric motorcycles and costs less than the minimum wage in the U.S., US$ 1,099, which in direct conversion equals about R$ 5,400 at the current exchange rate.

According to the youtuber, the home conversion process takes about an hour and requires a certain level of technical knowledge, as it involves disassembling and replacing various components.

The result, at least according to tests, seems to be quite interesting and does not affect the power of the YZ250; on the contrary. According to the Youtuber, the maximum speed achieved in medium riding mode was 96 km/h.

The instant electric torque also aids in steering and allows for greater precision in overcoming obstacles and trails. One issue with the conversion kit is that it removes the characteristic roar of the vehicle, which now has the traditional whistle of electric models, something many people are still unwilling to give up.

In addition to the possibility of turning your vehicle into an electric motorcycle, the market also offers various equipment that enables you to transform your regular bicycle into an electric one.

The equipment with an electric motor is a solution for those cyclists looking to take advantage of the benefits of electric bicycles at a lower cost, without replacing their current bicycle. In January, the Chinese company CYC launched a new product called Photon.

One of the main details of the kit is its weight of only 3.2 kg, slightly lighter than its competitors. However, the big differentiator of the equipment is its power. While other models do not deliver good performance in this regard, the Photon features a 750 W electric motor, along with a screen that can be installed on the vehicle and an app that allows adjustments via smartphone. Additionally, the conversion kit is very compact.

The Electric Motorcycle Market Continues To Expand

Despite several conversion kit options being available in the market, sales of electric motorcycles and scooters saw significant growth in 2022. The cumulative increase for the year was 346%, according to the monthly report released by Fenabrave.

Between January and December 2022, over 7,200 units of electric motorcycles and scooters were registered in the country. However, Fenabrave estimates that the share of electric models is still small compared to total sales.

According to Andreta Jr, President of Fenabrave, there were just over 7.2 thousand units registered in 2022, a still modest volume, even when considering only the motorcycle sector, which registered 1.3 million units.

Nonetheless, the development of these vehicles has been followed with interest. Among manufacturers, the one with the highest number of registrations in the country was Voltz Motors, which inaugurated its assembly line in Manaus in 2022 to locally produce its models.
