PAE inaugurates the Novo Horizonte Wind Complex in Bahia, the company's largest with 10 wind farms, 94 wind turbines and a capacity of 2 million megawatts/hour.

Pan American Energy has just inaugurated the Novo Horizonte Wind Complex, located in the heart of Bahia. This is the largest project the company has ever undertaken, housing an infrastructure that includes 10 wind farms and its own electrical substation. With a significant investment of R$3 billion, the project promises to be a milestone in the region's energy sector, in addition to strengthening Pan American Energy's presence in the market of renewable energies.

The inauguration event was attended by several authorities from the federal, state and municipal government, marking an important moment for PAE. The construction of these wind farms represents a significant advance in the use of clean and sustainable energy sources. With a robust production capacity, the complex will be able to generate enough energy to serve thousands of homes, consolidating itself as a fundamental pillar for the state's development. Inauguration of the Novo Horizonte Wind Complex

Bahia, July 3, 2024 – Pan American Energy (PAE) celebrated this Wednesday, the 3rd, the inauguration of the Novo Horizonte Wind Complex, its first large enterprise in Brazil, which unites 10 wind farms distinct and amounts to an impressive investment of R$3 billion. This complex, located in Bahia, is Pan American Energy's largest in the world, covering a vast area of ​​2,7 hectares and extending across six different municipalities. Equipped with 94 wind turbines distributed across 10 parks, it has enough capacity to supply up to one million Brazilian homes.

Opening ceremony and presence of authorities

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the illustrious presence of the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, the governor of Bahia, Jerônimo Rodrigues, the CEO of the PAE Group, Marcos Bulgheroni, and the general director of PAE Brasil, Alejandro Catalano, as well as more of 100 guests. In his speech, Marcos Bulgheroni emphasized that Pan American Energy aims to be a protagonist in the energy transition Of region. He highlighted that the launch of this complex is a decisive step in this direction, reinforcing the company's commitment to sustainability.

As in Brazil, Pan American Energy will continue to expand its natural gas production in Argentina. This fuel is of significant importance both for local economic development and for reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. Bulgheroni highlighted that natural gas can play a crucial role in the decarbonization of global economies due to its low emissions.

Transmission system and sustainability

The Novo Horizonte Wind Complex transmission system includes the construction of a new substation de electricity, covering 80 kilometers of high voltage lines. Furthermore, an existing substation was expanded, integrating the complex into the National Interconnected System. This joint work will allow the Novo Horizonte Complex to reach an annual production of 2 million megawatts/hour, which corresponds to an annual reduction of more than 500 thousand tons of CO2.

Alejandro Catalano, general director of PAE in Brazil, reiterated Pan American Energy's long-term commitment to Brazil and the artists neighboring the complex. He highlighted that the company intends to continue investing in the country, with several projects under evaluation, including the construction of a solar park close to the wind complex, transforming it into a large hybrid park with capacity installed total of 800 megawatts.

Expansion and commitments to the community

Catalano took the opportunity to thank the team of collaborators who worked on the project, emphasizing that the work was completed on time, with a focus on safety and environmental responsibility. During the 20 months of construction, Pan American Energy created more than 3.200 jobs, prioritizing local labor. Additionally, it implemented 30 socio-environmental programs which directly benefit more than 4,7 people in 52 communities close to the complex.

Of the R$ 3 billion invested in the project, 1,2 billion were financed through loans from BNDES and Banco do Nordeste, while R$1,8 billion came from Pan American Energy's own resources. These investments em renewable energy are part of PAE's long-term vision to actively participate in the energy transition, generating employment e renda for local communities. Pan American Energy promoted technical courses for more than 200 people, in partnership with SENAI and municipal governments since 2023, through the PAE Capacita program. These courses professional qualification They have theoretical and practical classes, aligned with the demands of the communities, targeting opportunities in public and private companies and in entrepreneurship.
