According to Ana Luiza Herzog, Magalu’s reputation and sustainability manager, the goal is to contribute to the qualification of those who are financially dependent on their partners or ex-partners, as financial dependency is unfortunately one of the ties that keep them bound to their abusers.

The Magazine Luiza qualification program was created and will be conducted by ComSchool, an institution specialized in e-commerce. Scholarship participants will have four modules totaling over 13 hours of online classes.

Participants will also learn Excel and social media for selling services and products. The final phase of the opportunities focuses on women’s empowerment and will feature Luiza Trajano, owner of Magazine Luiza; Maira Liguori, director of the NGO Think Olga; and Silvia Chakian, a public prosecutor from the São Paulo State Public Ministry.

What Are the Partner Institutions of the Initiative?

According to Caroline Basaglia, general manager of ComSchool, it is a great satisfaction to offer this qualification program, as it will be possible to combine all the training expertise of the institution, which is based on the economy of digital businesses, with a cause that Magalu has been increasingly supporting, which is the fight against violence toward women. The company is partnering with several organizations, which are:

  • Center for Rural and Urban Women of Lagoa do Carro and Carpina (Cemur)
  • Residents Association of Mutá, Bahia (Ammu)
  • Support and Pastoral Center for Migrants, São Paulo (Cami)
  • Association of Black Art and Culture Ará Dudu (RS)
  • Brazilian Citizenship Promotion Group (PI)
  • House of Women from the Northeast (PE)
  • Popular Education Service, Paraíba (Sedup)
  • Tingui Association (MG)
  • Women’s Group of Brazil (SP)

Magalu will also provide two tablets to each of the organizations, which will be used by women who do not have internet access. Those interested in participating in the scholarships for qualification should contact the listed entities above.
