Want to know some definitions and curiosities about this type of vessel in the maritime navigation sector? Here’s a brief summary below:
OSRV (Oil Recovery Supply Vessel) ⇒ ORSV vessels are designed for the collection of spilled oil in ocean regions. Therefore, it should be fast to reach the oil slick in the least possible time to avoid its dispersion, have good maneuvering capability ensured by the use of azimuth thrusters, and contain an effective oil recovery system capable of providing a better response to spills, with specific and high-tech equipment to, for example, detect, suction, and store the spilled oil. In addition to its function of containing and recovering oil, OSRVs also have firefighting equipment such as high-flow pumps and water jet nozzles, as they operate in explosive atmospheres.
