Smell Beyond Gasoline
But beyond the smell of gasoline itself, the perfume also blends the aroma of rubber and even an “animal” scent, to make a reference to Ford’s sports cars. The perfume for electric car owners was created by the fragrance consultancy Olfiction. The signature comes from the perfumer of the British Society of Perfumery, Pia Long.
The entity examined the chemicals emitted inside vehicles and thus blended the found items with blue ginger, geranium, lavender, and sandalwood, which add rubbery, smoky, and metallic touches. According to Ford Europe’s product communications director, Jay Ward, the sensory appeal of combustion cars is still something that drivers resist.
The multinational’s fragrance is designed to give electric car drivers who still want to smell fuel an experience almost identical to that of fuel-powered cars.
