Destined for professionals in cycle tourism, cycle logistics, and people who want to start a business with a bike, the free training aims to stimulate the culture of cycling as a means of income generation, strengthening the local economy, preserving the environment, and improving the quality of life for residents of Macaé of all genders, aged 18 and older.
Classes will cover basic bicycle mechanics, how to cycle safely in the city, entrepreneurship, and financial management. With limited spots, the 30-hour course is semi-presential and will take place from May 3rd to June 7th, from 7 PM to 10 PM, on the online platform and at C.E.M. Polivalente Anísio Teixeira, located at Rua Jesus Soares Pereira, Cajueiros, Macaé.
The selection will be based on a socioeconomic analysis, and women, Black, Brown, Indigenous people, and LGBTQIA+ have preference in the selection process. Participants who complete the training will receive a bicycle refurbished by themselves during the classes as a diploma, in addition to a course completion certificate.

The Pedala Macaé project aims to promote the bicycle as a tool for income generation, citizenship, strengthening local economies, and improving quality of life. In addition to Living from Bike, it also includes Rodinha Zero, which aims to encourage the bicycle as a tool for integral development for children aged 4 to 6 years, promoting its use through activities inside and outside of school, the campaign Bike Parada Não Rola, which consists of collecting unused bicycles in condominiums to be used in social projects developed in Macaé. For this year, the project brings new initiatives such as: the Bike-a-Tona, a social innovation marathon, and the opening of a Hub, a space dedicated to bicycles and the environment, which will host programs on these themes throughout the year.
The Instituto Aromeiazero is a non-profit organization that uses the bicycle to reduce social inequalities and contribute to making cities more resilient. The projects are supported by companies and individuals, in addition to incentive laws, with a large part of the actions taking place in peripheral and vulnerable communities. Since 2011, Aro’s initiatives promote a comprehensive view of the bicycle, enhancing cultural and artistic expressions, income generation, and healthy living habits.
