Have You Ever Imagined a Tire That Can Withstand Punctures Up to 4 mm? These Are Pirelli’s Tires for SUVs in Central and South America. In Addition to Pirelli, GM and Michelin Are Also Working on a Puncture-Proof Tire
Pirelli has developed a new product that focuses on the main cars and SUVs sold in Central and South America. The Cinturato P7, Scorpion, and Scorpion HT, names given to Pirelli’s tires, will be available in specific sizes and with a technology called Seal Inside, which seals punctures caused by objects like nails, for example, preventing drivers and passengers from incurring losses.

The Cinturato P7 is more geared towards all types of vehicles, unlike the Scorpion, which was designed to cater to drivers with fully on-road SUVs. The Scorpion HT is quite versatile, where only 30% of its use is off-road and the rest is urban, making it the trendiest in Pirelli’s “family” of tires.
The Seal Inside technology allows the tires to self-seal in case of punctures in the tread. This technology of Pirelli’s tires is already being manufactured in Brazil, specifically at the factory in Feira de Santana, in Bahia, where Pirelli produces and also exports its products. Pirelli tires can withstand punctures of up to 4 mm, allowing the car to continue its journey without losing air from the tires.

Protection Service Offered by Pirelli
Pirelli also highlighted that those who purchase tires with the new Seal Inside technology will also receive, as a bonus, the Tyrelife protection service, a program that replaces the tire in cases of accidental and irreparable damage for free.
Cesar Alarcon, executive vice president and CEO of the brand for Latin America, stated that Pirelli’s new tires further emphasize the region’s importance in the new global scenario as a leading market for the company.
According to the CEO, in addition to providing greater safety, the technology also increases the lifespan of the tires, avoiding replacements and consequently contributing to the environment. The launch of Pirelli’s tires took place at the Panamerican Circuit, located in Elias Fausto, in the interior of São Paulo state. The location is used as an outdoor laboratory and has seven tracks for testing various areas, covering a total area of 1,650,000 m².
Puncture-Proof Tires Become a Trend in the Brazilian Market
In addition to Pirelli’s tires, Michelin and General Motors recently announced a puncture-proof tire, and best of all: It is non-inflatable. Last Monday (26), the companies publicly presented the prototype of the Unique Puncture-Proof Tire System (Uptis).
Besides having a robust appearance, Michelin claims that the tire is resistant to punctures, made of fiberglass, does not lose pressure, does not impact the environment, and also provides greater safety for drivers and passengers.
General Motors and Michelin have not yet provided detailed information about the product, but it can be compared to the tires created for vehicles sent to the moon.
