CSN issued a statement informing that during the operation of removing slag from the steelmaking ladle, a reaction occurred that caused an air displacement, which led to the inhalation of dust by employees working in the area.
The company clarified that the injured employees received first aid on-site and shortly afterward, the more severe cases were taken to the hospital in Volta Redonda, and that it is providing full assistance to the employees and investigating the causes of the incident.
The president of the union stated that he will meet today at 4 PM with the company’s management to discuss the causes of the accident but emphasized the speed with which the victims were attended to by the company’s medical team.
A medical bulletin has not yet been issued by the responsible hospital, so we cannot ascertain the condition of the victims.
