Tepor – Get To Know The Port Terminal Of Macaé
The port promises to generate around 17,000 new job opportunities within a three-year period. Tepor is a private logistics support complex of the Vale Azul group. The new port will have two port terminals and a unit that processes natural gas with an investment of approximately US$ 5 billion.
According to Rodrigo Vianna, municipal secretary of Economic Development and Work and Income, the establishment of the port of Macaé represents a new stage of development for the municipality and is also a fundamental pillar to transform Macaé into the “Energy Capital,” as it will become a major reference in natural gas operations.

The German ship Bottsand splits its hull in two halves in the middle of the ocean to swallow spilled oil on the surface, separating the oil from the water inside a 790 cubic meter tank and then closing again. It is the only ship in the world factory-designed to split in half as part of normal operations, and the crew of six people who operate everything is civilian.

With a length of 225 meters and a capacity of 76 thousand tons, this ship “sinks” its own deck down to 28 meters deep to accommodate war destroyers, oil platforms, and giant radars floating above, and then emerges with everything intact on top like a colossal tray crossing oceans.
The Delay In Tepor’s Works In Macaé
The new Macaé port project has been dragging since 2016 and, only at the end of 2019, received the Preliminary Environmental License, approved by the State Commission for Environmental Control (CECA) and by Inea.
The document approved the location and conception of the terminal, and the next step was just the installation license for the start of the works. The port was a longing of the business community in Macaé, as it meets the demand of the support industry for oil and gas activities, as well as other logistics sectors.
The expected date for Tepor to start its operations was in 2022 and to be in full swing by 2030, but due to the delay, the dates are now uncertain.
New Port In Macaé Will Cover An Area Equivalent To 6 Million Square Meters
The land area of Tepor can reach up to 6 million square meters, with bonded warehouses and storage yards.
The project calls for two terminals, one for oil storage and the other for fuels with a capacity of 420,000 cubic meters. The structure of Terminal A is 16.5 meters deep and includes two berths: one for liquids to be transferred through pipelines to the onshore terminal and the other to receive LNG cargo.
Terminal B is focused on oil movement and will also have two berthing berths, with a depth of 27 meters to accommodate VLCC ships.
