New Vestas Operation in Latin America Attracts Investments

Before the announcement, Latin America was considered a sub-region of business for Vestas, but with the company’s new renewable energy investment configuration, the region will become a unique and consolidated unit starting next year. Even operating in 34 Latin American countries, in this new investment operation, Brazil will have a major role, given that the country is one of the company’s main markets in the renewable energy sector.

In May, Vestas received orders for 5 GW for its V150-4.2 MW Wind Turbine. The model began manufacturing in 2019, in Aquiraz (CE), and so far, 2 GW are already in production. With the new investment operation, Eduardo Ricotta and other regional presidents recognized the potential and announced they would meet with Vestas Group President and CEO Henrik Andersen.

According to Ricotta, this announcement confirms the importance of Latin America to Vestas and makes its commitment to the development of the renewable energy sector more real. He states that the company has proven the strength of its regional market year after year, and is dedicated to continuing to support its clients in strategies to meet the demand for solutions that utilize renewable energy.

Partnerships That Led to the Success of Vestas’ Wind Turbine

In early May, Vestas partnered with Omega Energia for the supply of 47 turbines of the model, which will be used in the Bahia project. At the time, Ricotta stated that Omega is one of the leaders in the renewable energy sector in the Brazilian market.

He also stated that through investments like this, Vestas reached the 5 GW sold. This demonstrates that the turbine is well-suited to Brazilian climatic conditions.
