Market Leader Vestas Will Be Part of a New Brazilian Renewable Energy Project to Develop a Wind Farm in Pernambuco
The Danish company Vestas, the world’s largest producer of wind turbines, will supply about 94.5 MW in wind turbines for the project that will install wind generators at the Ouro Branco and Quatro Ventos projects in the state of Pernambuco. This order was placed by European Energy, in partnership with Eólica Tecnologia, resulting from a new energy auction A-6 held in 2017.

Energy Generated at the Ouro Branco and Quatro Ventos Projects in Pernambuco Will Be Included in the Distribution Network
The generation of wind energy at the Ouro Branco and Quatro Ventos projects in the state of Pernambuco will be included in the regulated electric distribution network, thereby enabling access for captive consumers of the national interconnected system to the energy load from wind energy. The agreement also includes operation and maintenance services carried out by Vestas itself for the next ten years, with the option to renew for another ten years.
Vestas’ Project in Pernambuco Will Feature 21 Wind Turbines
In total, 21 wind turbines will be installed, optimized for a power mode of 4.5 MW for the V150-4.2 MW. The two Vestas projects will be the first in Brazil to feature this model. The project located in Pernambuco is part of Vestas’ 4 MW platform, ten years in development from already validated technology. The wind generators have towers over 100 meters tall and blades over 73 meters long.

The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.

Africa has about 500,000 cell towers and most still burn diesel to operate, while companies rush to cover antennas with solar energy and avoid signal blackouts.
“The projects will have wind turbines with the latest technology from Vestas’ 4 MW platform. They are fully adapted to harness the full potential of Pernambuco’s excellent winds and convert them into clean energy for the population. The state will be the fifth to have this turbine model, which represents the state of the art in wind equipment. It is yet another example of the strength of the Brazilian wind sector,” said Eric Gomes, Vestas’ Sales Director in Brazil.
