Vestas Will Manufacture Wind Turbines for the New Wind Farm Located in Bahia – The Wind Power Project is a Step Further Toward the Future
Vestas, a Danish company and the world’s largest wind energy firm, will produce its main onshore wind turbine, the V150-4.2 MW, at its factory located in Aquiraz (Ceará) for the Folha Larga wind farm project of 151 MW, located in Bahia, totaling 252 MW in signed contracts in Brazil. The order for this wind power project includes 36 V150-4.2 MW wind turbines and was placed by Casa dos Ventos, one of the largest wind energy developers in Brazil. Additionally, it also includes a service contract for Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) for the operation and maintenance of the wind farm over the next 20 years.

“We are honored to have Vestas’ support as wind energy becomes increasingly important in Brazil, and Casa dos Ventos is ramping up its investments in the sector,” says Lucas Araripe, the company’s energy generation director.
Vestas Aims to Complete the Wind Power Project in a Maximum of 2 Years
The expectation is to complete the construction in two years. “We plan to start the construction of the wind farm in 2019 and have it fully operational by 2020, ahead of schedule,” Araripe added.

The 36 wind turbines will be manufactured locally according to the rules of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES). This will solidify the 4 MW platform at Casa dos Ventos as the most competitive in the Brazilian wind energy market and will be assembled at Vestas’ factory in Ceará, generating hundreds of jobs.
Vestas Wind Farm Promises to Generate Jobs and Open New Paths in Brazil’s Wind Energy Industry
“We believe that the arrival of the V150-4.2 MW could open new paths for Vestas and the wind energy sector in the country. This partnership is very special because it involves a long-term contract with Casa dos Ventos, one of the pioneers and major investors in the Brazilian wind energy market,” emphasizes Rogério S. Zampronha, President of Vestas in Brazil and Latin America.
