BRF Closes Partnership with AES Brazil for the Construction of a Wind Farm in Rio Grande do Norte.
It was announced this Tuesday (15) by BRF, a leading food company, a partnership with the AES Brazil subsidiary aimed at building a wind farm in Rio Grande do Norte, in the municipality of Cajuína, aligning with the Joint Venture announced last year. The project will have a capacity of 165.3 MW and 80MW average per year to be sold through a power purchase agreement lasting 15 years. Construction work on the wind farm in Rio Grande do Norte is already underway, and the expectation is that the works will be completed in 2024.

AES Brazil and BRF Project Includes Investments of R$ 905 Million
The estimate is that R$ 905 million will be invested. In total, BRF will directly invest about R$ 92 million, which will be implemented over the next two years during the construction of the wind farm in Rio Grande do Norte. Through the project, BRF will be closer to reaching its sustainability goals, arriving at the beginning of the next decade with half of its energy matrix coming from renewable energy sources.
According to BRF’s Global Supply Director, Daniel Bucheb, the Joint Venture in partnership with AES Brazil will meet part of the company’s electricity demand in Brazil, leading to its earnings and capacity amounting to R$ 735 million over the next 15 years of the contract through cost reduction.

BRF and AES Brazil Discuss New Partnership Benefitting Rio Grande do Norte

According to Rogério Jorge, AES Brazil’s Vice President of Customer Relations, it is a pleasure for the company to be recognized as an important partner in the process of reducing emissions for companies. The new wind energy project is the result of the expansion of the successful partnership that AES Brazil has with BRF.
BRF Will Also Invest in Solar Energy
The group closed a financing of R$ 200 million with Banco do Brasil last year to invest in solar energy generation for producers connected to the company. Extra Itatiba is also linked to the company’s goals. The company has also partnered with Pontoon for the construction of a solar energy park in the municipalities of Milagres and Mauriti.
