Casa dos Ventos Aims to Be the Leading Renewable Energy Company in the Country
Founded by Mário Araripe, Casa dos Ventos has been expanding since 2007, primarily by selling on-paper wind energy projects to other companies, including renowned groups. However, the company’s mission is now to develop a robust self-generating park in the coming years.
According to Lucas Araripe, Director of New Business, revealing their goal of reaching 6 GW of solar and wind energy by 2026, Casa dos Ventos is preparing to become the leading renewable energy company in the country, moving at an accelerated pace.

Every time a river flows into the sea, an amount of energy equivalent to a 120-meter waterfall is silently wasted, but Japan has just inaugurated the world’s first power plant that captures this waste and transforms it into electricity 24 hours a day without sun, wind, or fuel.

Fortescue announces a radical shift by replacing diesel with a system featuring 1.2 GW of solar energy, 600 MW of wind energy, and up to 5 GWh in batteries, a giant project that could save $100 million per year and transform heavy mining into one of the largest 100% renewable operations in the world by 2028.

The company currently has a capacity of 650 MW in operating wind power plants, in addition to nearly 1 GW under construction and another 1 GW in contracts that need to be operational by the target date. Casa dos Ventos also plans to debut in solar energy production by installing solar panels on the same land as the wind farms, building an initial project of approximately 400 MW.
Casa dos Ventos Outpaces Its Competitors and Solidifies Its Position in the Renewable Market
The renewable energy company has simultaneously registered several GW in new wind and solar energy projects with Aneel, aiming to take advantage of a subsidy that will only be available for projects that requested grants by this month. According to Araripe, the resources to make investments in renewable energy will be obtained by the company from development banks such as BNB and BNDES.
The magnitude of Casa dos Ventos’ ambition is clear when compared to rivals, such as the French Engie, which operates plants with about 10 GW, but only 1.3 GW in wind and solar energy.
The largest purchase of renewable energy closed in the country was from Echoenergia’s acquisition by Equatorial, finalized in recent days, involving around R$ 10 billion and 1.2 GW in operational wind power plants. Omega Energia currently has 1.9 GW and plans to grow by 40% by the end of next year in solar and wind energy.
Company Promises to Continue Selling Projects
Although it has plans for expansion in wind and solar energy generation, Casa dos Ventos will continue to market its projects, which may also help fund its expansion. This also involves the sale of rights to plants that are not yet operational, for installation by third parties.
With about 400 employees, the company has around 250 people dedicated solely to the development sector, seeking regions throughout Brazil with the necessary characteristics to accommodate new solar and wind energy projects.
