European Company Works on Cheap and Efficient Solar Roof. Idea Is to Compete with Giant Tesla in the Sector
With the combined effort of countries to curb climate change, new technologies in the sector are gaining more and more prominence.
A European company called SunRoof is shaking up the market with a smart solar energy concept and aims to compete with Tesla in the sector in Europe. The idea is to install its solar roofs on people’s homes and create a sustainable network.
SunRoof has been working to further evolve the concept that gained prominence in the market with Tesla. However, its concept employs 2-in-1 solar roofs, featuring innovative and highly technological facades.

The company guarantees that the facades will have the capacity to generate electricity without the need for common photovoltaic modules.
Instead, the company uses monocrystalline solar cells, pressed between two sheets of glass. This same concept promises to generate solar energy at a more affordable rate.
The idea is to use the technology in as many homes as possible in a given area, creating a sort of local solar energy plant. This way, it can sell the surplus to individuals or companies looking for renewable energy options.
Tesla uses Autobidder to manage and trade the solar energy from rooftops, but the system is closed. SunRoof intends to work with various partners and become Tesla’s main competitor in the sector.
“SunRoof was founded to make the transition to renewable energy not only easy but highly cost-effective, without ever having to sacrifice resources or design. We have already grown over 500% year-on-year and will use the latest funding to double our growth,” said CEO Leck Kaniuk.

The company has caught the market’s attention, securing an investment of 4.5 million euros. The company aims to grow in Europe and also intends to start operations in the US, where Tesla dominates.
