Klabin's board of directors approved 23 special projects and capacity expansions at its facilities in several states of the country
Yesterday, Tuesday (30/06), Klabin informed through a notice to the market that its board of directors approved 23 special projects and capacity expansions in its facilities that should consume investments of R$ 342 million between this year and 2022. Of the total, R$ 125 million will be disbursed this year and the remainder in 2022, said the manufacturer of paper for packaging and cellulose. States such as Santa Catarina, Pernambuco, Minas Gerais, Paraná and others will receive the company's contributions. The projects that will receive the investments
Most of Klabin's investments, a total of R$ 251 million, will be directed towards increasing the capacity for converting paper into packaging, with emphasis on two new printers that will be installed at the units in Betim (Minas Gerais) and Goiana ( Pernambuco) and a new line of miscellaneous bags at the Lages unit in Santa Catarina.
The other projects are distributed across all Klabin's operating segments and substantially focused on cost optimization. The projects have a fast and high return, and the low investment in relation to the cash generation expected from these projects makes their implementation contribute to the company's acceleration in the current growth cycle.

Klabin recently announced that it will invest more than R$2,6 billion in the Puma II Project, located in the municipality of Ortigueira, in the state of Paraná. The Puma II Project is Klabin's biggest investment, which will have two paper machines, with the 1st machine (with a capacity of 450 tons/year) expected to be delivered later this year. The 2nd paper machine (with a capacity of 470 tons/year) is expected to be delivered in 2023. Many job opportunities will be generated, directly and indirectly, when it goes into operation.
Cristiano Teixeira, general director of Klabin, says that, during the last year, the company made a thorough assessment of trends and market conditions in order to reach a conclusion. The general director also points out that the packaging paper sector has enormous growth potential and foresees that paperboard is the possibility of generating even more value for Klabin, reinforcing the company's business model, which is integrated, diversified and flexible.
Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior, governor of the state of Paraná, says that the state receives this news of more Klabin investments in the state with great enthusiasm, as the company is a great partner of Paraná, with over 10.000 jobs generated directly and indirect.
