The city of Macaé, in Rio de Janeiro, was chosen to receive the launch of Promar – Program for the Revitalization and Incentive to the Production of Maritime Fields.

The Promar initiative in Macaé was approved at the beginning of December by the National Energy Policy Council, which aims to encourage better use of oil resources in mature offshore fields, with special attention to the Campos Basin. The current performance in the Brazilian pre-salt, which is close to 70% of national production, deserves due mention. However, one cannot forget that in the recent past the production of the offshore post-salt fields, mainly in the Campos basin, was already responsible for more than 90% of the national production, sustaining for many years the technological initiatives for success in new exploratory frontiers, mainly to make production viable in these high productivity fields, framed as assets of world class.
