The New Technology May Provide the Rise of Smart Technology in Brazil and Worldwide, in Addition to Assisting in Service Delivery for Industries Adopting 5G
The year 2021 was symbolized by the emergence of the first signs of 5G in the world, being launched in Brazil at the beginning of this month of July. According to a survey by the International Data Corporation (IDC), by the year 2025, this technology is expected to generate approximately R$ 130 billion. This confirms how this new conception of mobile internet will transform the sector, increasing the development standard of companies and also global connectivity. Furthermore, this new 5G technology could be a key piece for the internet to generate more productivity and add more value in the development of smart cities.
5G Technology Could Automate Production for Companies in Brazil and Worldwide
5G could bring a new perspective for the smart and connected factories of the future, introducing a new trend for the workforce of these companies in Brazil and around the world. The new form of work will be robots, which will be responsible for carrying out all the manual and heavy tasks, while human workers will oversee the operations. Supported by smart technology, humans and machines will be able to collaborate together in factories.
This technology scenario is known as Industry 5.0 or collaborative industries, which show a growing vision among manufacturers of the need to respond to the increasing customer demand for a greater degree of individualization. Additionally, most business owners describe this new labor technology as an essential part of their business strategy, as the connected and collaborative tasks create significant opportunities to improve productivity and innovation in production.

The New 5G Technology Recently Launched in Brazil Led to a Threefold Increase in Searches for 5G Smartphones
The arrival of 5G in Brazil, when launched in Brasília at the beginning of the month, greatly increased the demand for smartphones compatible with the technology. However, although the new technology attracts consumers to this new generation of internet, buying it right at the launch may not be viable, given the high cost of devices and the technology.
Data from Google Trends reveals that searches for 5G increased by more than 70% in Brazil during the week of July 1 to 7 compared to the previous week. Moreover, the search for lists of smartphones compatible with 5G saw a rapid increase in recent weeks.
Currently, there is a wide variety of smartphones on the market. The prices of the ten most sought-after 5G smartphones on the Buscapé platform in Brazil range from R$ 1,200 (Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G) to R$ 7,200 (Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G).
However, replacing 4G-incompatible smartphones with a new device that supports 5G may not always be advantageous for customers. According to a professor at PUC-RS and specialist in information technology, this factor will depend on what the user does with the mobile network.
For the average consumer, 4G already meets everyday activities such as entertainment, work, and education well. Due to higher speed and stability along with reduced latency, 5G is associated with increased productivity for companies, agriculture, health, and other sectors.
A survey conducted by the consulting firm GfK shows that, between January and May 2022, sales of 5G-compatible smartphones in Brazil grew by 230% compared to the same period in 2021.
