These robotic ships will be able to remotely deploy a wide range of the latest sensors, as well as AUVs and ROVs for visual and acoustic data acquisition.
Armada's fleet does not require people on board or a host ship nearby. Instead, they will be controlled and operated by experienced mariners via satellite communications from land-based facilities in Austin, TX and Southampton.
The fleet approach produces up to 90% less CO2 than other conventional research vessels, also making it the most environmentally sustainable company in the industry.
The Armada fleet is currently under construction and is expected to be deployed by the end of 2020.
Oliver Plunkett, CEO of Ocean Infinity, said: “We were driven to innovate by a desire to further reduce our impact on the environment and the time people spend at sea. We have created an extraordinary team that has world-leading expertise to take this next step in our business forward for the benefit of our customers and everyone who works with us. ”
Dan Hook, Managing Director of Armada, added: “We are very excited to launch Armada, which perfectly complements Ocean Infinity Group's other service offerings.
“The pioneering technology makes our operations world leaders in terms of sustainability and environmental safety, while still achieving the highest levels of data quality and value for our customers.
“Without the need for a host vessel, we are breaking new ground in subsea technology and data. We look forward to providing our new and existing customers with a best-in-class solution that will be game-changing for the industry. ”
