Samsung launches 20 kg Bespoke AI washer and dryer with heat pump, 7” screen, smart sensors, and app control to save energy.
In 2025, Samsung Brazil reinforced its commitment to connected home laundry by highlighting, in a publication on July 18, the Bespoke AI Laundry Heat Pump WD20D Washer and Dryer, a model with a 20 kg washing capacity and 15 kg drying capacity, a colorful 7-inch AI Home screen, SmartThings connectivity, and artificial intelligence features designed to adjust cycles according to usage. The proposal is not just to wash and dry clothes, but to transform the appliance into a connected system capable of monitoring consumption, recommending programs, and integrating the laundry routine into the home’s digital ecosystem.
According to Samsung itself, the appliance uses AI Wash, with sensors capable of detecting weight, fabric softness, and water dirt level to automatically adjust water, detergent, and wash cycles. The technical highlight is the combination of AI Dry and Heat Pump technology, which dries clothes with humidity and temperature control, while the manufacturer states that the system can reduce energy consumption during drying by up to 70%, in addition to allowing remote control, notifications, and usage analysis via the SmartThings app.
Continue reading below to understand how this new generation of washer and dryer works, why it promises to replace traditional models, and what changes in practice for the consumer.

Heat pump reduces energy consumption and changes the logic of home drying
The main technical differential of the new Bespoke AI lies in heat pump drying. Unlike conventional systems, which use electrical resistance to heat the air, the heat pump reuses internal heat, reducing energy waste.
This allows drying at lower temperatures, which has two direct effects:
- lower energy consumption,
- less wear and tear on clothes.
This system can significantly reduce operating costs over time, especially with frequent use routines.
Furthermore, gentler drying preserves fibers, delicate fabrics, and items that would normally be damaged by intense heat.
7-inch interactive screen transforms machine into laundry control center
Another element that differentiates the model is the presence of a 7-inch screen with an intelligent interface, integrated into the front panel.
This screen allows for:
- selecting programs with detailed visuals,
- monitoring wash progress,
- receiving cycle suggestions,
- viewing energy and water consumption.
In practice, the machine ceases to be a mechanical appliance and begins to function as a digital interface for laundry management.
This type of integration brings the appliance closer to the logic of smartphones and connected devices, creating a new user experience.
Smart sensors automatically adjust washing according to load and fabric type
The Bespoke AI uses sensors that analyze different variables during the cycle. The system is capable of identifying:
- load weight,
- fabric type,
- dirt level.
Based on this data, the machine automatically adjusts:
- wash time,
- water quantity,
- cycle intensity,
- drying time.
This dynamic adjustment reduces waste and improves washing efficiency. The result is a more precise operation, which avoids both over- and under-processing of clothes.
20 kg capacity expands use for large families and high volumes of laundry
The capacity of up to 20 kg positions the model among the largest in its category. This allows washing large volumes in a single cycle, reducing the frequency of use. For larger families or intense routines, this factor directly impacts:
- time spent on laundry,
- accumulated consumption,
- household organization.
Furthermore, the integration of washing and drying eliminates the need for manual transfer of clothes between appliances.
Consumption reports help identify patterns and reduce waste
One of the model’s most strategic points is its consumption analysis. The machine provides detailed data on:
- energy used per cycle,
- water usage,
- frequency of operation.
This information allows the user to adjust habits and reduce waste over time.
This type of functionality directly connects with trends in energy efficiency and more conscious home management.
Silent system with optimized design reduces noise and vibration during operation
Bespoke AI also focuses on acoustic comfort. The model uses damping and vibration control systems that reduce noise during operation.
This allows use in integrated environments, such as apartments and homes with laundry rooms near social areas. Quieter operation expands usage flexibility, allowing the machine to operate at different times without significant environmental impact.
The machine does not operate in isolation. It can integrate with other connected home devices, such as:
- virtual assistants,
- automation systems,
- other smart appliances.
This integration expands the role of the appliance within the home environment. It ceases to be merely a functional device and becomes part of a larger home automation system.
Equipment still faces barriers such as price and consumer adaptation
Despite the advancements, challenges exist. Models with this level of technology tend to have a higher cost, which can limit access.
Furthermore, some consumers are still adapting to connected systems. Widespread adoption depends on the perceived value in relation to the investment.
Samsung’s strategy indicates a clear direction: transforming home appliances into smart platforms. The Bespoke AI Laundry Heat Pump WD20D is an example of this movement.
It combines automation, connectivity, and energy efficiency in a single appliance. The goal is to change not just the product, but how the consumer interacts with laundry.
Now the direct question arises: will this new generation of smart machines truly replace traditional models, or will the cost and complexity still keep the common washer-dryer dominant for longer?
