These robotic vessels will be capable of remotely deploying a wide array of the latest sensors, in addition to AUVs and ROVs for visual and acoustic data acquisition.
The Armada fleet does not require people on board or a nearby host vessel. Instead, they will be controlled and operated by experienced mariners via satellite communications from ground facilities in Austin, TX, and Southampton.
The fleet’s approach produces up to 90% less CO2 than other conventional research vessels, making it also the most environmentally sustainable company in the sector.
The Armada fleet is currently under construction and is expected to be deployed by the end of 2020.
Oliver Plunkett, CEO of Ocean Infinity, said: “We have been driven to innovate by the desire to further reduce our impact on the environment and the time people spend at sea. We have created an extraordinary team that has world-leading expertise to take this next step in our business for the benefit of our clients and all those who work with us. ”
Dan Hook, Managing Director of Armada, added: “We are very excited to launch Armada, which perfectly complements the other service offerings of the Ocean Infinity Group.
“The pioneering technology makes our operations world leaders in sustainability and environmental safety, while still achieving the highest levels of quality and data value for our clients.
“Without the need for a host vessel, we are paving new paths in underwater technology and data. We look forward to providing our new and existing clients with the best-in-class solution that will be revolutionary for the sector. ”
