With the Registration of 17 New Slaughterhouses, the Total of 38 Expands Brazilian Presence in the Indonesian Beef Market by 80%

Indonesia officially authorized on this Monday (8) the registration of 17 new Brazilian slaughterhouses for beef export. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa).

The measure is a direct result of bilateral negotiations and inspections conducted last month by Indonesian sanitary authorities.

With this decision, the total number of authorized establishments rises to 38. This represents an 80% increase in the number of slaughterhouses certified to serve the local market.

Advancement of Exports

The most important aspect is that this expansion comes right after another favorable move for Brazilian exports. In August, Indonesia allowed the entry of bone-in meat, offals, meat products, and prepared meat from Brazil.

Therefore, both announcements reinforce the presence of Brazilian protein in one of the most populous markets in Asia, with over 270 million inhabitants.

Strategic Market

The growing demand for animal proteins makes Indonesia a strategic partner. The expectation is that the new registrations will increase both the volume and diversity of shipments. Furthermore, this move strengthens Brazil’s position as one of the main suppliers in Southeast Asia.

This advancement is also expected to boost jobs and income in the national agricultural chain, in addition to consolidating the country’s image as a reliable partner in food security.

Joint Negotiation

The registrations are the result of a process led by Mapa. The Secretariat of Commerce and International Relations (SCRI), the Secretariat of Agricultural Defense (SDA), the agricultural attaché in Jakarta, the Brazilian Embassy, and the private sector worked together to meet sanitary requirements.

This collective effort ensured the expansion of market access and opens new perspectives for Brazilian beef in the Asian scenario.
