In April 2025, the Citroën C3 Live 1.0 remains the cheapest new car in Brazil. With a promotional price starting at R$ 73,490, the model delivers a 1.0 Firefly engine with 75 horsepower, paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Basic Equipment and Focus on Economy

In the United States, the bet for the affordable vehicle market is different. The startup Slate Auto, backed by entrepreneur Jeff Bezos, has introduced the Slate Truck, a minimalist electric pickup.
With an initial price of US$ 27,000 (approximately R$ 153,576.00), which can drop to US$ 20,000 after federal tax incentives, the pickup aims to position itself as an innovative alternative in the electric segment.
Extreme Simplicity and Electric Range
The Slate Truck comes equipped with an electric motor with 201 horsepower. There are two battery options: one of 52.7 kWh, with an estimated range of 150 miles (approx. 241 km), and another of 84.3 kWh, capable of traveling up to 240 miles (approx. 386 km).
To reduce costs, the model eliminates exterior paint, sound system, and electric windows. The simplicity also allows for more affordable customizations.
Transformation Is One of Slate Truck’s Differentials
Another differential of the Slate Truck is the possibility of transformation. The pickup can be converted into a five-seat SUV or a fastback crossover, thanks to conversion kits that will be available.
Production is slated to begin at the end of 2026, and reservations can already be made with a payment of US$ 50, fully refundable.
