The State Government Foresees Billion-Dollar Investments in the Renewable Energy Sector, Such as Wind Energy and Solar Energy
The Economic Development Secretariat (SDE) of the Bahia Government highlighted the signing of protocols that will generate significant investments in the state. The secretariat informed that 37 letters of intent were signed with the state in this first quarter. They foresee investments of up to R$ 5.2 billion, generating thousands of job openings. The majority of the investments will be for wind energy and solar energy projects.
João Leão, Vice Governor of Bahia and Secretary of the department, highlighted the good environment that the negotiation has in the state: “Despite the pandemic, work here has not stopped. I believe that the healthy business environment and stable economy of the State have allowed us to continue attracting good business. I highlight that the internalization of investments continues to be a priority for the Bahia government.”
He also highlighted that around 86% of the investments, that is, job openings, will go to cities in the interior of the state, which are more in need. Last year, 76% of these investments were also for the interior of the state.

Job Openings Will Be Generated with Investments in the Interior of the State of Bahia
Investments are on the rise due to large investments in clean and sustainable energy. Of the signed projects, a total of R$ 4.5 billion is in this area. The cities of Xique-Xique and Itaguaçu, further inland, will receive a total of 14 wind energy projects combined. There will also be a total of six solar energy projects in Juazeiro. Together, the projects will generate a total of 2,500 indirect jobs during construction.

The State of Bahia currently has a total of 438 projects being monitored. They were signed in recent years, generating a total investment of R$ 71.2 billion, resulting in a total of 54.3 thousand direct job openings. Of the total amount, about 90 projects are in clean energy, such as wind energy and solar energy. Investments of R$ 40 billion are expected in the sector in the coming years, generating thousands of job openings in Bahia.
