Jeff Bezos invests $100 billion in a space station for millionaires: a luxury hotel 400 km from Earth
Jeff Bezos believes that the future of humanity lies in space stations, offering a sustainable alternative to preserving the Earth. In addition, space tourism represents a growing billion-dollar market, in line with the innovation vision of his company Blue Origin.

Scheduled to begin operating in 2030, Orbital Reef will feature dormitories, social areas and privileged views of Earth, offering unique experiences for up to US$100 million per stay, with investment from Jeff Bezos.

Have you ever imagined spending your vacation in space? This idea, which seemed like something out of a science fiction movie, is now closer to reality thanks to Jeff Bezos. With the International Space Station (ISS) scheduled to be retired in 2031, the billionaire founder of Amazon is leading the development of a new commercial space station: Orbital Reef. Planned as a luxury hotel for millionaires and a space for scientific research, this station promises to redefine the course of space exploration.

Orbital Reef, a Blue Origin initiative, is under development since 2020 and has an initial investment of US$ 130 million from NASA. But the total cost? An astronomical US$ 100 billion! Is space tourism really the future of humanity? Let's find out.

A new chapter in space exploration

For more than two decades, the ISS has been a beacon of international cooperation and scientific advancement. However, 26 years in orbit have taken their toll. NASA has already set its retirement for 2031 and has allocated $843 million to ensure its safe deorbit.

But the end of the ISS does not mean the end of space exploration. Quite the opposite! The transition to commercial stations, such as Jeff Bezos’ Orbital Reef, ushers in a new era in space, where private companies are taking the lead.

Orbital Reef: A luxury hotel 400 km from Earth

Orbital Reef will be built in collaboration with giants such as Blue Origin, Amazon and Boeing, each playing strategic roles in the project. The structure will include expandable modules, transportation via Dream Chaser and self-sufficient systems to ensure operation in orbit.

Jeff Bezos’ Orbital Reef will be a multi-purpose station designed to accommodate up to ten people. With 823 cubic meters of space, it will include sleeping quarters, social areas and modules for scientific research. And the special feature? Large windows that offer stunning views of Earth and space.

The station is expected to begin initial operations in 2027 and be fully functional by 2030. A unique experience for those who can afford it.

Jeff Bezos' Role in the Future of Space

While Elon Musk dreams of colonizing Mars, Jeff Bezos believes that the future of humanity lies in space stations. For him, living in space is a way to preserve Earth and expand our borders without abandoning our home planet.

It ambitious vision took shape with Orbital Reef, which involves major companies such as Blue Origin, Sierra Space and Amazon. Each partner plays an essential role, from logistics to transportation and construction of the modules.

A unique experience for millionaires

Imagine floating in zero gravity while admiring the Earth through a giant window. That’s what Orbital Reef’s guests will experience. Comfortable bedrooms, social areas and a futuristic ambiance will ensure an unforgettable stay.

But like everything in space, space tourism is still exclusive. The estimated cost of a trip to Orbital Reef, which is being invested in by Jeff Bezos, could exceed $100 million, making it accessible only to the wealthiest.

Competition in space: other projects in progress

Orbital Reef is not alone in this race. Companies like SpaceX and Vast Space are working on similar projects. One of the most promising is Jed McCaleb’s Haven-1, scheduled to launch in 2025.

This new era of commercial stations could democratize access to space, offering opportunities for both research and leisure. Space tourism is moving from fiction to a new business frontier.

Jeff Bezos no is just building a station space; it is paving the way for humanity’s future in space. Orbital Reef represents not only a new era of exploration, but also a vision of a world where tourism and science coexist in orbit.

Just bluster. They sent some guys to the ISS and they've been there for 6 months without being able to return, maybe waiting for a ride on Russian rockets. Go fuck yourselves.
