New Factory in Manaus Invests in BLDC Motor Technology, Focused on Energy Efficiency, Quiet Operation, and Expansion of the National Air Conditioning and Automation Industry, Following Elgin’s Largest Recent Industrial Investment.
Elgin inaugurated a BLDC motor factory in Manaus with an investment of R$ 200 million, reinforcing self-sufficiency in critical components and the strategy to export technology made in the country.
The unit integrates into the existing industrial complex in the Free Trade Zone and was designed to operate with renewable energy, reducing logistical emissions and shortening delivery times for customers in Brazil and Latin America.

While Luciano Hang says that Brazilians have gotten used to R$ 600 and Luciano Huck warns about the “dependency” on Bolsa Família, the Brazilian municipality of Bento Gonçalves reduced the number of beneficiaries by 40% by offering job opportunities to families; the city, with an average salary of R$ 5,022, has become one of the country’s biggest success stories.
According to the commercial vice president, Anderson Bruno, “the manufacturing of these motors on Brazilian soil positions Elgin on the global strategic air conditioning map.”

The logic is that local production provides resilience to supply and increases competitiveness in markets looking for alternatives outside traditional hubs.
What Differentiates BLDC Motors
Brushless direct current motors eliminate the mechanical contact of traditional brushes, removing friction and wear.
The design results in greater energy efficiency, quieter operation, and prolonged lifespan.
Moreover, electronic control allows for precise adjustment of speed and torque, an essential feature for applications requiring accurate response.
Due to these properties, the technology has gained traction in air conditioning, industrial automation, and electric vehicles, segments that demand performance, reliability, and reduced consumption.
Sustainable Production and Innovation Center
The new plant was designed to utilize a renewable energy source and incorporate processes aligned with the company’s environmental policies.
By internalizing the manufacturing of motors, Elgin reduces dependence on imports and the carbon footprint associated with international transportation.
In parallel, the unit houses a co-development center, an environment where engineering teams and clients can test and simulate tailored solutions before industrial scaling.
The proposal aims to accelerate innovation and decrease the time between prototype and production.
Markets Served and Supply Expansion
With the operational hub in Manaus, the company expands its capacity to serve residential and commercial air conditioning manufacturers, building automation, industrial HVAC and refrigeration, and onboard climate control in buses, trains, and vessels.
The expectation is for logistics gains and technical standardization for clients who currently rely on imports, as well as the opening of channels for exports in the region.
Strategy and Industrial Positioning
The company indicates that the investment is the largest industrial investment in its recent history, a move aligned with the intention of positioning itself among integrated suppliers of Air Conditioning and Industrial Automation.
According to the COO, Caio Guazzelli, “the initiative is essential to strengthen national innovation, generate local value, and expand operations as an integrated supplier in the Air Conditioning and Industrial Automation sectors.”
In operational terms, the presence of a modernized manufacturing park allows for scaling volumes with quality control and end-to-end traceability.
Technical Benefits for End Use
In air conditioning, the efficiency and control of BLDCs favor lower energy consumption and lower noise levels, key points in residential and corporate environments.
In automation, precise adjustment reduces fluctuations and current spikes, prolonging the equipment lifecycle.
In electric vehicles and embedded systems, high power density and immediate response assist in applications requiring continuous reliability and careful thermal management.
Official Inauguration of the Unit
The ceremony took place on Monday, August 4, 2025, gathering clients, partners, and executives. Present were Edy and Rafael Feder (CEO), former player Cafu, the brand ambassador, and José Jorge do Nascimento, president of Eletros.

The event symbolized the formal entry of the unit into the production schedule, with the goal of gradually increasing supply to different segments over the coming demand cycles.
Impact on the Supply Chain
By internalizing a central component of air conditioning systems, Elgin aims to shorten lead times, reduce currency exposure, and increase cost predictability for clients.
The location in Manaus connects the factory to suppliers and logistics operators already established in the Free Trade Zone, facilitating integration with air conditioning assembly lines and other equipment in the sector.
Export Prospects and Competitiveness
While part of the production is expected to serve the domestic market, the company targets exports to countries in Latin America, leveraging regulatory affinity and logistical proximity.
In parallel, operating with renewable energy and efficiency gains contributes to the ESG goals of clients who need to demonstrate the environmental performance of their supply chain.
The combination of proprietary technology, installed capacity, and development partnerships is seen internally as a foundation for capturing growing demand for high-performance motors.
With the factory operational and a focus on brushless motors, the national industry gains a significant local supplier; the question now is: how will this installed capacity reflect on price, delivery times, and innovation throughout the next demand season for air conditioning?
