Two independent baskets, steam, recipe synchronization, and automatic cleaning place the Philips Series 5000 among the most versatile models in the category, combining features aimed at simultaneous preparation, preserving the texture of food, and reducing work in the kitchen.

Philips expanded its line of kitchen appliances with the Airfryer Series 5000 Dual Basket with steam, model NA555/00, which features two independent baskets, a total capacity close to 9 liters, and three cooking methods in the same appliance.

Combining hot air frying, steam cooking, and a hybrid function, the proposal uses both technologies to create surface crispness without removing all the moisture from the food during the preparation of different recipes.

Designed to cook different dishes simultaneously, the equipment reduces the need to switch between pots, baking trays, and other utensils, while each compartment receives its own settings for temperature, cooking method, and full cycle duration.

Even when ingredients require different times, the synchronization system adjusts the operation of the drawers so that both sides finish together, preventing one part of the meal from cooling while the other continues to be prepared.

Philips Air Fryer has two baskets and a capacity close to 9 liters

In the internal division, the larger basket has 6.3 quarts, while the smaller one offers 3.2 quarts, measurements used in the manufacturer’s North American catalog and equivalent, when combined, to approximately 9.1 liters of total available capacity.

With this separation, the main space can accommodate meats, larger portions, or main dishes, while the smaller compartment is reserved for side dishes, snacks, or individual quantities without requiring the use of the entire available capacity.

According to Philips’ official page, the set holds up to 39 ounces of French fries, approximately 1.1 kilograms, or 56 ounces of vegetables, around 1.6 kilograms, and can accommodate up to 12 chicken drumsticks.

Meanwhile, the larger basket can accommodate a whole bird of approximately 1.2 kilograms, depending on the shape of the food and how it is positioned inside the drawer throughout the cooking process.

Steam cooking expands preparation possibilities

The main differentiator is the presence of steam, a feature that extends functionality beyond the hot air circulation found in conventional Air Fryers and offers an alternative for ingredients that need to preserve softness and moisture.

During the dedicated mode, the heated water creates an environment suitable for vegetables, fish, and delicate pasta, while the combined function applies steam and hot air in the same cycle to balance internal cooking and external finish.

Instead of relying solely on dry heat, the appliance combines the two processes according to the selected program, aiming for uniform results and reducing overly toasted spots in recipes sensitive to high temperatures for prolonged periods.

RapidAir Plus Technology distributes heat through the food

For air frying, the model uses RapidAir Plus technology, based on an internal star-shaped design that directs circulation around and through the food, distributing heat to different areas of the portion.

As explained by the manufacturer, this faster flow helps make cooking consistent on the outside and inside of the food, promoting a firm surface without leaving the center excessively dry during the cycle.

Philips claims that the system can prepare fries with up to 90% less fat compared to homemade versions made in a conventional immersion fryer, according to the test and comparison method adopted by the company itself.

Even so, this percentage does not represent an identical reduction for all ingredients, quantities, or recipes, as the result depends on the conditions used in preparation and the original composition of each food placed in the baskets.

Steam cleaning helps remove grease residues

Besides participating in cooking, steam is also used to clean the larger compartment, helping to dissolve greasy residues that remain adhered to the bottom, sides of the drawer, and the area near the heating system.

According to the official Philips support, the complete program lasts 20 minutes, with 15 minutes dedicated to steam cleaning and another five for drying the container before removing and rinsing the parts.

Even with this function, the procedure does not completely replace washing, as the manufacturer advises rinsing the basket and drawer after the cycle and using water with detergent when there is still accumulated grease on the surfaces.

Aimed at one of the most labor-intensive points in the category, this feature combats particles and grease that may remain on the grates and internal surfaces after repeated preparations, especially with meats, sauces, or oilier ingredients.

Before manual cleaning, the application of steam aims to reduce the effort needed to loosen dirt, without turning the device into a complete sanitation system that eliminates the need to remove and wash removable parts.

Synchronization allows finishing two recipes at the same time

On the panel, the controls for both compartments are concentrated in a single area, allowing you to select different methods for each side without interrupting one of the cycles just to change the setting used in the other available basket.

By functioning independently, each drawer distinguishes the device from models with a single cavity divided by internal accessories and allows you to prepare one food with hot air while another receives steam or a different program.

When a recipe requires a longer duration, synchronization organizes the start and progress of each cycle so that both finish together, preventing the side dish from remaining idle while the main course is still inside the equipment.

The different sizes allow you to prepare an individual portion in the smaller compartment and keep the main drawer available for bulky foods, while complete meals can use both spaces at the same time, with their own settings.

Steam and hot air change the traditional Air Fryer concept

The combination of hot air and steam modifies the traditional concept of the category, known mainly for replacing part of the immersion frying, by adding a technique associated with cooking delicate foods and preserving moisture.

In the combined mode, steam aims to prevent certain ingredients from drying out before reaching the appropriate point, while hot air remains responsible for the external finish and the formation of a firmer surface.

Gathered in the same equipment, these functions concentrate tasks normally distributed between an Air Fryer, a steam pot, and a compact oven, without requiring the transfer of ingredients during the preparation of recipes compatible with the device.

Although the commercial name highlights the two drawers, steam plays a central role in the model’s concept, as it appears in the dedicated mode, the hybrid function, and the cycle created to facilitate fat removal.

Water reservoir supplies steam functions

To use these features, the water reservoir must be filled and correctly installed, as the equipment detects the absence of liquid or improper fitting and signals the need for adjustment before starting operation.

For now, the official page presents the NA555/00 in the Philips catalog in the United States, with capacity advertised in quarts and specifications geared towards the electrical network of that market, while voltage, accessories, and availability may vary depending on the country.
